The primary task of the family counselor is to conduct psychotherapeutic and advisory conversations focused on adult relationships. The conversations mainly take place with couples but also with individuals in other adult relationship forms, such as adult siblings.

The work includes crisis treatment, conflict management, and processing conversation series. The position also includes telephone counseling for the public. Our service area includes Gävle Municipality, Sandviken Municipality, Ockelbo Municipality, Hofors Municipality, and Älvkarleby Municipality. The conversations take place at our reception in Gävle. There are five family counselors working in the team.

As a family counselor, you have access to external supervision every month, and as a newcomer, you will also receive a good introduction with an experienced family counselor as a supervisor.

All work as a family counselor takes place at the reception/workplace.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with a degree in social work or similar education, as well as basic psychotherapy training (level 1). It is an advantage if you have experience as a family counselor or similar work.

To thrive in this position, you need to enjoy supporting and helping others. You have a professional approach and have achieved personal maturity. Furthermore, you have a good ability to structure and independently organize your work, as you are often alone as a therapist. You have a good ability to build trust and good relationships. You are also flexible and have good collaboration skills since some cases require two therapists. You have an interest and ability to independently seek and acquire new relevant knowledge in the field. It is a given for you to work from a child perspective in your work.
