Cyber Training Center is Hiring
FOI, the Total Defense Research Institute, is one of Europe's leading institutes for applied research in defense and security. FOI is an authority under the Ministry of Defense, tasked with conducting research, method and technology development, and investigations for total defense, as well as supporting disarmament, non-proliferation, and international security. Our operations are conducted on behalf of primarily the Government Offices, the Armed Forces, the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV), and the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB). At FOI, we have about 1400 employees, of which over 1000 work directly with research and development. Our competencies span the entire field from natural sciences and engineering to social and political sciences.
Do you want to contribute to strengthening resilience against cyber threats in critical societal functions? Are you motivated by technical challenges and a game of hide and seek? Then you are a perfect fit for us at FOI's Cyber Training Center! We offer a balanced work life, a developing work environment, and a socially important job. FOI could be your new workplace!
About the Position
In your role, you will develop realistic threat and exercise scenarios and translate these into cyberattacks using current technology and attack methods. You will work closely with research and exercise leaders to identify attacks and scenarios that are highly relevant to the target audience within defense and critical societal functions, relating to the learning objectives of the exercise or research assignment. You will participate in the development of the virtual environments and tools used in the cyber facility Crate and act as a fictional antagonist during the cyber exercises and research assignments conducted by FOI.
We are in a phase of strong growth, and depending on your background and interest in continued professional development, the role can be shaped in a way that we will agree upon together.
About the Unit
You will be part of the Cyber Training Center, which belongs to the Cyber Defense and Command Technology department. The unit's main mission is to contribute to the ability of critical societal functions to withstand cyber threats. We do this by conducting and researching exercises and training in the cyber domain. The unit houses one of Europe's first and largest cyber facilities where we simulate IT environments and ICS systems integrated with cybersecurity scenarios. This provides us with a controlled environment for cyber exercises and experimental research on cyber threats.
