The Neuro Surgery Unit (VO) in Lund is one of seven neurosurgical units in Sweden that offers highly specialized care in the southern healthcare region to patients with injuries and diseases of the central nervous system. Within the Neuro Surgery Unit, there are surgery, neuro-intensive care, inpatient care, day care, and outpatient clinics.

Our team consists of nursing assistants, nurses, doctors, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and medical secretaries. Most patients have a planned admission for surgery and are admitted through our outpatient registration, which means well-prepared and secure patients before surgery. We have a strong focus on patient safety.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

We welcome a new colleague to our neurosurgery ward.

As a nursing assistant with us, you will work in a team with other professional categories in the department. You will have an interesting and developing job focusing on pre- and post-operative care of neurosurgical patients. You consider the whole patient and can adapt your care according to the patient's various needs during their stay. We welcome students whom you are expected to mentor. The department prioritizes lectures and case studies to strengthen and enhance the competence of our staff. The workday ends with a reflection where we collectively review the day.

As a new colleague with us, you will receive four weeks of introduction with regular follow-up.

For us, safety is an important guiding principle, which also includes continuously working on one's competence - secure employees create secure patients.

QUALIFICATIONS

We welcome you who are a trained nursing assistant with a focus on emergency care/healthcare according to the previous program structure or are a trained nursing assistant within the new program structure who has studied all specializations. If you have experience from similar operations, this is highly meritorious for the position. Additionally, we would also like you to have previous experience in neurosurgery and emergency care. Experience with the Melior journal system is also meritorious.

As a person, you are proactive, flexible, and meticulous. You enjoy working in a team and contribute to good collaboration and a positive work environment. Great importance is placed on personal suitability.

OTHER

As of July 1, 2023, the title of nursing assistant became a protected professional title. This means that you will need proof from the National Board of Health and Welfare to use the title nursing assistant within healthcare and social services. If you currently have a permanent position as a nursing assistant and are offered a new position, you can retain your title as a nursing assistant until June 30, 2033. In the event of an interview/employment, you need to be able to present proof of the protected professional title from the National Board of Health and Welfare or a certificate that you were permanently employed on July 1, 2023. If you do not currently have a professional certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare or are covered by the transitional provisions, it means that the title in your employment contract will be care assistant and not nursing assistant.
