We are now seeking a postdoctoral researcher in the field of didactics for cybersecurity, based at the Department of Computer Science (IDA).

Your Responsibilities

Your role as a postdoctoral researcher will be to conduct research on didactics for cybersecurity. The need for education and training in cybersecurity is significant, and many courses and programs are created that are not always based on evidence and didactic principles. Therefore, there is a great need for new knowledge on how we best conduct education in cybersecurity. Different target groups have different prerequisites based on prior education and experience, and we need to increase our understanding of which methods work best for these various groups. Furthermore, there are great opportunities to spark interest and engagement through, for example, game-based teaching methods (CTF).

Your tasks will include developing new materials and enhancing existing courses and training in cybersecurity through practical and applied research, as well as empirically investigating how well different methods and approaches work. The research will be published in high-quality scientific conferences and journals. You will participate in projects funded, among others, by the EU, contributing to these through discussions and meetings. As a postdoctoral researcher, your primary focus will be on research. Teaching may also be included in your duties, but no more than one-fifth of your working time.

Your Qualifications

To be eligible for the postdoctoral position, you must have a PhD or a foreign degree deemed equivalent to a PhD. Your degree must be completed by the time the employment decision is made.

It is advantageous if your degree was obtained no more than three years before the application deadline for this position. If there are special reasons, someone who obtained their PhD earlier may also be considered, for example, due to various types of statutory leave.

We are looking for someone with a PhD in computer science or a related field and an interest and experience in teaching cybersecurity, alternatively, you may have a PhD in pedagogy/didactics or similar with documented knowledge in cybersecurity.

You must be excellent in both oral and written communication in English and capable of working with other team members as well as performing independent work. Communication with industrial partners often occurs in Swedish, making knowledge of Swedish advantageous.

Your Workplace

The Department of Computer Science (IDA) was founded in 1983, but our roots go back to the early 1970s. It is one of the largest computer science departments in Northern Europe. Our research covers a wide range of areas, from fundamental computer science to applied fields. The extensive research also influences our undergraduate and graduate education, leading us to offer courses in several civil and engineering programs, as well as programs in innovative programming, cognitive science, and statistics. You will work at the Real-Time Systems Laboratory (RTSLAB) within the Software and Systems department (SaS). We offer an internationally recognized research environment with excellent conditions for successful research and a broad network of collaborations within industry and academia in Sweden. In the research group at the Real-Time Systems Laboratory, more than 12 PhD students and a couple of postdoctoral researchers work in areas such as cybersecurity, trustworthy AI, and cyber-physical systems. We also have several collaborations through, for example, commissioned education and projects aimed at increasing public knowledge and awareness of cybersecurity.

Linköping University has recently made a significant investment in a new cybersecurity lab that you will be able to utilize for research and education.

About the Employment

The position is a fixed-term employment for three years. The postdoctoral position is full-time.
