The Department of Medicine, Division of Molecular and Clinical Medicine, conducts translational research primarily on metabolism, diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular disease to improve health and healthcare in society. The overarching goal is to create an excellent translational research environment of very high international standard.

The position will be placed in Muhammad Arif's research group at the Wallenberg Laboratory. The group is part of the national program for Data-Driven Life Science (DDLS), funded by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation. Their research focuses on developing computational methods and integrating multi-omic data to study progressive diseases, particularly cardiometabolic diseases. Job Responsibilities

The work primarily involves the collection and analysis of publicly available transcriptomic (single-cell and bulk) data, including GTEx data. You will also develop an analysis pipeline and implement it in a high-performance computing environment.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • A Master's degree (or equivalent) in bioinformatics, biostatistics, computational biology, computer science, machine learning, molecular biology, or a related field is required. If the degree is not yet completed, please indicate the expected completion date.
  • A strong background in computation and the ability to code independently in Python or R is required.
  • Basic understanding of statistical analysis of large datasets is expected.
  • Fluent English in both spoken and written form.

Meritorious:

  • Experience applying machine learning and/or network analysis to complex datasets.
  • Experience in analyzing and visualizing large datasets.
  • Experience in omics data analysis (e.g., transcriptomics, metabolomics).
