Welcome to Psychiatry!

The care unit belongs to the Psychiatry Psychosis area, focusing on patients with schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders.

Here, we value the meeting with the patient, allowing time for conversation and reflection.

Ward 241 is a care ward with 16 beds that provides psychiatric specialist care to patients in an acute phase of illness. Each patient is assigned a responsible physician during their stay, who is responsible for assessment and treatment, and a contact person who coordinates care. The unit employs physicians, nurses, caregivers, treatment assistants, social workers, pharmacists, and nursing assistants.

We aim to have two nurses per shift during evenings and weekends.

What can we offer you?

For those new to the profession, we offer four weeks of shadowing, followed by four weeks where you will always work with a colleague during evenings and weekends, while typically working as a solo nurse during weekdays. You will also receive supervision from a specialist nurse during these eight weeks.

Job Responsibilities

The conversation and meeting with the patient are the most important tools in the work. The initial goal is to create calm and security for the patient. Then, through a person-centered approach, agree on a care plan that includes goals and strategies for treatment and follow-up.

Important parts of this approach include:

• Listening and conveying images of the patient's life situation, abilities, and obstacles.
• Creating trusting and secure relationships that lead to dialogue and collaboration.
• Formulating care plans based on the patient's narrative and involving relatives.

About You

We are looking for a licensed nurse, preferably with an interest in psychology and psychiatry. We consider personal suitability when filling the position.

You have a genuine interest in human interactions and are driven by the desire to help others. Our patients' realities often differ from your own, and you must be able to show judgment, be clear, and strive to reach the patient.

In the event of recruiting nurses/physicians with foreign licenses/specialist certificates, the current position will be preceded by a process to meet the requirements for Swedish licenses/specialist certificates.

If you are a newly graduated nurse, you will be part of the Clinical Foundation Year, which is our introduction program. The clinical foundation year is mandatory and lasts for the first year of your employment with us. It includes lectures, nursing supervision, and practical training of your profession at the Simulation Center. In addition, it includes service in at least two different departments to broaden your competence.
