The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. The operational area (VO) Tygelsjö/Ringsjön consists of the Tygelsjö prison with 137 places for men and the Ringsjön prison with 82 places for women in security class 3, led by a prison manager together with seven correctional officers.

Both prisons conduct extensive VSP and investigative work, while also providing valuable employment opportunities such as a horticulture, carpentry with pallet production, mechanical workshop, assembly/packaging, kitchen and cooking, learning center, and other structured activities.

JOB DESCRIPTION

As a kitchen assistant with us, you will be part of a team consisting of two chefs and a kitchen manager who prepare meals for the inmates at the prison. During your service period, you will cover the respective chef's vacation and be supervised by the chef on duty. The tasks are all common in a large kitchen, such as planning, purchasing, preparing, and serving lunch and dinner. Your duties also include cleaning the kitchen facilities, dishwashing, and self-monitoring in accordance with applicable legislation. Preparation of dietary and other special meals is also included. The work is partially done in collaboration with other staff with different functions.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is secure, stable, and has self-awareness. You are calm and controlled in stressful situations and work well with others. You have good judgment and take responsibility for your tasks.

We are looking for someone who has:

• Restaurant or large-scale kitchen education at the high school level or other education combined with experience deemed relevant by the Swedish Prison and Probation Service.
• The ability to express yourself well in spoken and written Swedish.

It is considered an advantage if you have:

• Experience working in large kitchens
• Experience working with self-monitoring
• Experience working with special diets
• Relevant language skills

We have high demands for our employees' security and confidentiality awareness. To work with us, you need to undergo a security review in accordance with the Security Protection Act. For this position, a security review interview will be conducted before a hiring decision is made. During the security review, you will be investigated as a person, your background, and your relationships from a security perspective. You will receive more information about the security review during your employment interview.
