At Alstom, we understand transport networks and what moves people. From high-speed trains, subways, monorails, and trams, to turnkey systems, services, infrastructure, signaling, and digital mobility, we offer our diverse customers the broadest portfolio in the industry. Every day, 80,000 colleagues lead the way to greener and smarter mobility around the world, connecting cities as we reduce carbon emissions and replace cars.
Are you our new technician in Gothenburg?
Do you have a technical background and experience in mechanical maintenance and want to be part of a global industry leader? Do you have the desire to develop, appreciate teamwork, and enjoy solving technical challenges? Then you might be the one we are looking for!
Your future role
You will report to Mattias Asplund Tenggren and work together in a group with competent and engaged colleagues who will help you integrate into the work and team in the best way.
The team you will join consists of 4 other technicians, one of whom is a team leader, and you will also collaborate with other functions within the depot. We are about fifteen technicians divided into three shift-working teams at the depot in Sävenäs.
Your task, together with your colleagues, is to perform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting. The role also includes assessing the traffic safety condition. You should be able to follow instructions and carry out maintenance and commissioning according to them.
Your responsibilities also include:
- Performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and modifications on vehicles.
- The work is carried out according to instructions in existing systems.
- Registering and documenting information in our current systems regarding e.g., action text, materials used, etc.
- Occasionally troubleshooting and correcting electrical faults on the vehicles with the support of troubleshooters.
- Ensuring compliance with the requirements of the policy for environment, health, safety, and quality.
- Working according to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and Alstom Railway Safety Policy.
Who are you?
To succeed as a train technician, you need to have strong technical skills and an eye for detail.
You need to be structured and enjoy working according to clear processes. We also believe that you like working towards deadlines to get the trains out on time. You are good at organizing and planning your work well.
We also believe you are analytical and enjoy performing technical troubleshooting and finding solutions to problems. Furthermore, it is important that you are meticulous and have a high sense of responsibility, as work as a train technician has a direct impact on the safety and health of all passengers. Good communication and collaboration skills are also important as you work together with other technicians and other staff at our depot.
To succeed in the role:
We value passion and attitude over experience. That’s why we do not expect you to have all the skills. Instead, we have listed some that we believe will help you succeed and grow in this role:
- Education/experience or a strong passion for maintenance of heavy machinery or vehicles.
- Experience or understanding of technical work within the aviation, industrial, or automotive industry, or similar where repair and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and digital control systems have been part of your daily routine.
- We would like you to be accustomed to replacing electrical and mechanical components according to drawings and instructions.
- If you have good knowledge of electrical systems, that is a big plus.
- Knowledge of troubleshooting and the ability to solve complex problems is an advantage.
- Familiarity with the railway industry is an advantage.
- Good language skills in Swedish and English.
- A driver's license is desirable as travel between depots may occur.
As the tasks are significant for traffic safety, an approved medical examination is required before any employment can begin, which will be arranged by Alstom.
The work involves shift work with holiday operations and may eventually include night shifts.
Are you the right person to take on this challenge and want to contribute to our continued development?
Then you are warmly welcome to apply as soon as possible. We only accept applications via our website. The position may be filled before the application deadline as selection and interviews are ongoing.
Things you will enjoy
Join us on a lifelong transformative journey - the railway industry is here to stay, allowing you to grow and develop new skills and experiences throughout your career.
- Enjoy stability, challenges, and a long-term career free from boring daily routines.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and helpful colleagues.
- Contribute to innovative projects.
- Develop within the company.
- Benefit from our investment in your development through award-winning learning.
If you are ready for the challenge, we would love to hear from you!
You don’t have to be a train enthusiast to thrive with us. We guarantee that when you step onto one of our trains with your friends or family, you will feel proud.
