About the Job
As a care assistant, you will support patients in their daily lives with a focus on developing their own abilities, for example through advisory and supportive conversations.
You need to be able to handle various emotional expressions from patients and feel comfortable listening, setting boundaries, and resolving conflicts. Through a good introduction and self-protection training, you will be well-prepared for this. As a care assistant, you can work in all psychiatric departments at Östra Hospital, Mölndal Hospital, Rågården (Gunnilse), Högsbo Hospital, and Sahlgrenska Hospital. About You
To be eligible for the position, you need to meet one of the following requirements:
- Completed at least the third term of the nursing program and completed hospital practice by June 2025
- Completed at least the fifth term of the medical program at the University of Gothenburg by June 2025.
- Completed at least the sixth term of the medical program at another university by June 2025.
- You are a trained care assistant in healthcare or will complete your education by June 2025.
It is an advantage if you have:
- Studied healthcare with a focus on psychiatry and/or have experience in psychiatric care.
We are looking for summer substitutes during the holiday period weeks 22–35 (May 26 - August 31). You should be able to work 8 consecutive weeks, including 4 weeks in July. You are good at collaborating, can adapt to different work situations, and prioritize as needed. We will consider personal suitability when filling the positions.
To ensure we can provide our patients with good and safe care, it is important that our employees have good language skills and the ability to communicate in Swedish. Your language level should be at least B2 (according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages), SVA 1 (Swedish as a Second Language 1 in municipal adult education), or equivalent.
Information for Applicants for Summer Substitute Positions
At Sahlgrenska University Hospital, care is provided around the clock, which means you may work days, evenings, nights, and weekends. Sahlgrenska University Hospital has a time quota linked to night shifts, which reduces weekly working hours for each night worked.
Before employment in psychiatry or pediatric care, a check of the suspicion and criminal record register will be conducted.
Interviews will be conducted during the period of January to May 2025. Recruitment will be ongoing during the application period.

- have completed their education (care assistant): final grades or diploma and certificate. Proof of protected professional title from the National Board of Health and Welfare if you have received it.
- are in ongoing education (medical student or nursing student): proof of results and registration certificate indicating which term you are in and how many credits you have earned so far.
- Grades translated into English by your university if you are studying abroad. It should be clear which term you are in.
- Statement from the National Board of Health and Welfare or validated education through UHR if you have foreign education.
- Work certificate (optional) from previous employers (dates, employment rate, and hours).
