Summer Substitute Nurse at Viskan Prison

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our primary goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will be safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, remand facilities, and client transportation.

Viskan Prison is a closed facility that will start receiving inmates in March 2025. 125 employees work in the operation. The prison has capacity for 120 inmates and 24 emergency places. The largest professional group is correctional officers, but we also have healthcare professionals, administrative staff, educators, production leaders, and more. The inmates will be engaged in education, various treatment programs, or industrial production. The best way to reach Viskan is by car, and you can park in our staff parking.

We are now recruiting a full-time summer substitute for the period of June 2 - August 24 with prior introduction. We prefer that you can work full-time for the entire period, but even if you cannot work full-time or the entire period, we welcome your application. There is a great chance for hourly employment both before and after the summer.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service provides some open healthcare services, which means that all prisons and remand facilities have healthcare clinics where inmates can seek care. As a nurse with us, you will work Monday to Friday. In the healthcare clinic, you and your colleagues will assess minor ailments and determine which clients need to see a doctor. This means you will work with both somatic and psychiatric healthcare for the inmates, assist during medical appointments, and administer medication primarily through dose dispensing. Documentation is done in the PMO patient data journal.

Collaboration with other correctional staff is an obvious and important part of the job. This includes guiding client-facing staff on health and medical issues such as suicide prevention, emergency care, and medication administration.

QUALIFICATIONS

You find it easy to collaborate with others and have well-founded and clear values. In stressful situations, you remain calm, stable, and controlled. You have great integrity and the ability to make correct assessments and priorities.
