The Hospitals in the West is an administration within the Västra Götaland Region and consists of four hospitals – Alingsås Hospital, Angered Local Hospital, Högsbo Local Hospital, and Kungälv Hospital. About the Organization

The Psychiatry Department is one of nine areas of operation within the Hospitals in the West. The department has about 300 employees and includes adult psychiatric outpatient and inpatient care as well as child and adolescent psychiatric outpatient care for the population in Ale, Kungälv, Stenungsund, and Tjörn municipalities.

The child and adolescent psychiatry within the department consists of two outpatient clinics in Kungälv and one in Stenungsund. The inpatient care is managed by Drottning Silvia's Children's and Youth Hospital. One of the clinics in Kungälv has a neuropsychiatric focus while the other assesses and treats patients with affective disorders. The Stenungsund clinic receives patients with all types of child and adolescent psychiatric issues. At Kungälv Hospital, there are two specialized psychiatric clinics that accept patients from the age of 16: an eating disorder unit with day care and a DBT clinic.

The clinics are characterized by high competence and a high degree of collaboration, and operate from a cross-professional perspective. We have the advantages of a small hospital with short contact paths and good cooperation with colleagues in the adult psychiatric part of the organization. Our goal is to provide our patients with the best possible care, and we continuously work on developing methods and treatments.

We Offer

If you have an interest in psychiatry and the health of children and adolescents, have good knowledge of the Swedish language, and enjoy working in cross-professional teams, we can now offer an ST position in child and adolescent psychiatry. Previous experience in psychiatry or child and adolescent healthcare is an advantage.

As an ST physician, you will work with the assessment and treatment of patients with child and adolescent psychiatric issues. One of our specialist physicians/consultants will be your main supervisor who will guide you on your path to becoming a specialist, and for each placement during your ST, you will also have clinical supervisors. The ST is a training position, and many components occur within the department. You can choose to work in Stenungsund or in Kungälv.

We require a background check from the Police Authority regarding all who are offered employment within the Psychiatry Department.
