We are looking for a secure and committed leader who wants to drive and develop the county's work in civil protection and preparedness.
As unit manager and defense director at the County Administrative Board of Västmanland, you will play a key role in strengthening crisis preparedness and civil defense, collaborating with important actors in total defense, and contributing to building a robust and sustainable society – today and for the future. Responsibilities
We believe in close leadership that strengthens work with a trusting work environment and a sustainable workplace. As unit manager, you will lead and organize the unit's work. You will be responsible for finances and personnel and ensure that work is carried out effectively, with good quality that contributes to the organization's goals. You will also develop and manage the County Administrative Board's crisis and war organization. In the role of defense director, you will represent the County Administrative Board in various national and regional networks and actively participate in internal and external collaborative projects and assignments.
Your daily tasks include:
- planning and coordinating the county's crisis preparedness collaboration U-Sam at an overarching level
- participating in the defense directors' network of county administrative boards and participating in or driving work within a preparation group
- participating in joint work within the Central Civil Area, such as the Civil Area Forum
- representing the authority in external contexts such as media contacts, conferences, training, and exercises
- handling additional tasks during heightened preparedness.
Together with other managerial colleagues, you will be part of the management group of the Department of People and Society.
About the workplace
The County Administrative Board has a broad mandate within crisis preparedness and civil defense and an important task in building total defense. The County Administrative Board has geographical area responsibility for the county and a coordination responsibility before, during, and after societal disturbances. The County Administrative Board is the highest civilian total defense authority at the regional level.
The unit for civil protection and preparedness works with, among other things, risk and vulnerability analyses, risk and crisis communication, security protection, civil defense, communication and management systems, command posts, and collaboration projects, but also with monitoring the municipalities' crisis preparedness. The unit works with the coordination and development of crisis management and total defense capability across the entire threat spectrum, from risks and accidents to tasks before and during heightened preparedness.

Qualifications
In this position, it is important to have experience leading experts and self-sufficient employees with formal personnel responsibility. We also see that you have experience in the field of work, such as having worked with societal disturbances. Since collaboration with external parties is a central and important part of the work, we also see that you have experience in that.
Furthermore, you have an academic education in a relevant field for the position, a B driver's license, and preferably some leadership training.

You have a healthy approach to work, which is evident in how you plan and carry out your assignments. As a person, you focus on opportunities rather than obstacles.
As a leader, you are secure, stable, and driven by seeing others develop. You will work in an area affected by a rapidly changing environment, where you need both experience and the ability to lead operations towards both short- and long-term goals.
You have a stable and coaching leadership style and can exercise it both on-site and remotely. It is important that you can build and maintain relationships and networks, as collaboration is a central part of the work. You have a holistic perspective on the issues you tackle and a clear way of communicating both internally and externally.
