At the Psychiatric Emergency Department, we serve residents of the region who need assessment and care for their acute psychiatric condition. Patients usually seek help voluntarily, but sometimes they are admitted involuntarily. The reception staff conducts an initial assessment interview (triage interview) with the individual, which may lead to a doctor's consultation to determine if there is a need for inpatient care or if other measures can be taken for the individual's acute psychiatric condition.

The staff at the Psychiatric Emergency Department works in a multidisciplinary team with nurses, nursing assistants, primary on-call, and secondary on-call, with good cohesion where we care for the work environment. In the team, we provide great support to each other. The team plays an important role in the acute care of the individual.

The Psychiatric Emergency Department is open 24/7, hence the 3-shift work schedule.

Nurse for Psychiatric Emergency Department, Sundsvall

Job Responsibilities

In the role of nurse with us, you will:

• Conduct the initial emergency assessment interview with the individual when they seek help at the department.
• Perform NEWS checks, ECG, assessments, and sampling to determine further management and action.
• Provide telephone advice/assessment when individuals call the department.
• Handle some medication management.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who

• Are a licensed nurse
• Have good knowledge of Swedish in both speech and writing

It is an advantage if you

• Have further education in psychiatry or other further education in emergency care or primary care
• Have experience in psychiatric care and treatment
• Are accustomed to making assessments of acute conditions
• Have additional language skills
