Responsibilities

We are now looking for someone interested in working with us at the County Administrative Board as an Environmental Protection Officer. With us, the work as an Environmental Protection Officer spans many different subject and competency areas. Primarily, you will work within contaminated areas, but the content of the position may change over time based on the needs of the organization or your knowledge and skills.

You will work on managing and updating the EBH support and inventorying according to the MIFO methodology. In addition, the supervision of contaminated areas in the region, processing reports of discovered pollution, and providing support and guidance to the municipalities in the region are included. It may also involve reviewing and assessing investigations, environmental effects, and producing liability investigations.

The job includes a lot of dialogue with operators, property owners, municipalities, other authorities, and private individuals. You will have the opportunity to support the internal work of the County Administrative Board within your subject area and guide in contact with municipal supervisory authorities. There will also be a significant amount of internal dialogue and cross-sectoral work with other units at the County Administrative Board.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is structured, meticulous, and flexible. You have the ability to work methodically and efficiently with both cases and more overarching tasks. You can clearly and understandably make trade-offs from a holistic perspective and justify decisions made.

Since the work involves many internal and external contacts, it is important that you can easily create good relationships, are good at collaboration, are clear in your communication, and are confident in contacts with companies, the public, media, and others who may be affected by our decisions. You need to be able to combine collaborating with colleagues and being self-driven, with the ability to drive cases and tasks forward all the way to completion. It is important that you express yourself well in Swedish, both verbally and in writing.

Requirements:

• Scientific university/college education with a focus on contaminated areas, environmental and health protection, geology, ecotoxicology, or other education that we consider equivalent.
• Driver's license (B).

Desirable:

• Experience from government operations and supervision
• Particularly desirable is experience working with contaminated areas, the MIFO methodology, environmental law, and supervision according to the Environmental Code
