About us

Let us start by telling you about the heart section and the care we provide in our departments 92/93 in Cardiology, where advanced cardiac care is conducted.

Our two departments provide advanced cardiac care in close collaboration with each other and have the ultimate responsibility for emergency care regarding ongoing heart attacks. We have a large catchment area with both county and regional assignments (Island, Norrland, and all of Västra Götaland).

The department collaborates closely with the emergency intake and with the ambulance service. A nurse or doctor from the ambulance sends an ECG to the department, which is interpreted by two nurses. A decision is then made regarding the care the patient will receive, such as direct PCI or another care facility. In the department, we also care for patients with various types of arrhythmias and patients being evaluated for advanced heart failure, heart pumps, and preparing for heart transplants.

What do we offer?

Together, we can offer you broad knowledge in Cardiology so that you as a nurse can feel professional pride and develop your skills over time, which is important to us.

In the department, doctors, nurses, and nursing assistants work closely together with frequent check-ins where team spirit is prioritized. We also work closely with other professional categories such as physiotherapists, social workers, occupational therapists, and dietitians. We have four instructors in the department who continuously educate the nurses through internal lectures and courses, both theoretical and practical. This makes you more confident and professional in your nursing role.

The department has its own Heart and Lung instructors who conduct continuous internal training where we practice together. This includes everything from half days to full days throughout the year.

We have a cardiac arrest team that we are very proud of, where the nurse together with a cardiologist responds to cardiac arrest alarms throughout the hospital. Both the doctor and the nurse wear a pager that alerts them in case of a cardiac arrest. This is to ensure that the patient receives professional care as early as possible in the care chain. Participation is voluntary, but it is highly appreciated by both employees and other departments.

We have a competence ladder from general cardiology to advanced highly specialized care. There is also a specialist training program in cardiac care that takes place part-time over two years.

About you

We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse. You are passionate about emergency care and possess important qualities such as good collaboration skills, attention to detail, social competence, and a flexible working style. Working in the cardiac intensive care unit means that you must enjoy emergency care. The work will vary from high workload to a calmer pace. That is the charm of working here.

In the event of recruitment of nurses/doctors with foreign licenses/specialist certificates, the current position will be preceded by a process to meet the requirements for Swedish licenses/specialist certificates.

If you are a newly graduated nurse, you will be part of the Clinical Foundation Year, which is our introductory program. The clinical foundation year is mandatory and lasts for the first year of your employment with us. The clinical foundation year includes lectures, nursing supervision, and practical training of your profession at the Simulation Center. In addition, it also includes service in at least two different departments to broaden your competence.
