The Psychosis area in Malmö aims to provide effective psychosis care with a respectful approach to enable a good life. Our mission within outpatient and inpatient care is to assess, investigate, diagnose, treat, and rehabilitate patients with diagnoses such as schizophrenia, delusional symptoms, schizoaffective disorders, and any conditions where psychosis development is suspected. We offer psychiatric interventions for individuals with psychosis issues, based on a holistic view of mental health that combines medical, psychological, and social interventions. The psychosis area consists of four outpatient clinics and three units providing inpatient care. Ward 87 is an inpatient ward with 14 beds for patients with psychotic disorders and disabilities, as well as first-time psychosis patients.

We are transitioning to the title of nursing assistant and will gradually phase out the title of caregiver across all our psychiatric services. This process began on November 1, 2023. Changing the title will not alter the need for specialist competence in psychiatry. Specialist competence remains very important and will continue to be developed. Within the administration, work has begun to review what is needed for ongoing competence development, increased professional knowledge, and development opportunities related to patient care.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

We now welcome a caregiver/nursing assistant in psychiatry to join us at Ward 87!

In your role, you will work closely with patients on various care tasks. Your responsibilities include participating in routines related to care, conversations, and support for patients. We also conduct home visits, study visits, and assist with matters important to the patient. As a contact person, you will participate in planning the patient’s care and discharge, which involves collaboration with outpatient care and the municipality. Documentation is done in the Melior data system according to the VIPS model.

We work according to a schedule where working hours are allocated to days, evenings, and every other weekend.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is a trained nursing assistant or specialist nursing assistant in psychiatry. This means you have a recognized upper secondary education in health and social care (2500 points), a recognized health and social care education through Komvux (minimum 1350 points), or another equivalent nursing assistant education. Since the work largely involves communication and documentation, good language skills in Swedish, both spoken and written, are a requirement. We prefer that you have experience working as a caregiver and/or nursing assistant in psychiatry. It is an advantage if you have experience working in psychiatry or with patients with mental health issues. Additionally, good computer skills and basic knowledge of our journal system Melior are beneficial.

You have a genuine interest in psychiatric care and always put the patient first. As a person, you are calm and stable, as it is important that you can maintain composure and have a low-arousal approach in stressful situations. With a strong sense of service and responsibility, as well as good collaborative skills, you humbly meet the situation that the patient and their relatives are facing. You have good prioritization skills and also contribute to a good working environment. We are keen to find the right person and therefore place great emphasis on personal suitability.

As of July 1, 2023, the title of nursing assistant became a protected professional title. This means you will need proof from the National Board of Health and Welfare to use the title of nursing assistant in health and social care. If you currently have a permanent position as a nursing assistant and are offered a new position, you can retain your title of nursing assistant until June 30, 2033. At any interview/employment, you will need to present proof of the protected professional title from the National Board of Health and Welfare or a certificate that you were permanently employed on July 1, 2023.
