Our Operations

Clinical genetics is one of five sections within the academic laboratory. The operations include patient reception and consultancy services as well as laboratory diagnostics of genetically related diseases and conditions. Patients are referred to the patient reception from the Healthcare Region Central Sweden (https://www.sjukvårdsregionmellan.se/ (https://www.sjukv%C3%A5rdsregionmellan.se/)) who need clinical genetic diagnostics, investigations, and genetic counseling. At the patient reception, genetic counseling is provided to individuals or families with suspected or confirmed hereditary diseases in themselves, their children, or other relatives. Our mission also includes research, development, and education in collaboration with Uppsala University. Clinical genetics has no on-call duty or standby. The laboratory operations are accredited according to ISO15189 and environmentally certified according to ISO 14001.

Clinical genetics is an expansive and exciting operation within Uppsala University Hospital. You will work in a university hospital with a focus on the patient. Currently, over 80 people work within clinical genetics. We strive to be an attractive workplace with engaged colleagues, participation, and good leadership!

Your Mission

You will work on establishing family trees, have patient contact via phone, and perform administrative tasks at our oncogenetic patient reception.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a genetic counselor, have a master's degree in genetic counseling, or are studying in the master's program in genetic counseling during semesters 3–4.

Your Competence

We wish that you have a genuine interest in genetic counseling and enjoy meeting patients. We offer exciting tasks in a stimulating environment and are looking for someone who is curious and has an easy time learning. The work requires teamwork skills, accuracy, and the ability to work structured and independently. Good language skills, both spoken and written in Swedish, are a requirement.

We Offer

We offer a temporary position during the summer period. The temporary position lasts for up to 8 weeks from mid-June to mid-August.
