Postdoctoral Researcher in Electrochemistry and Redox Flow Batteries

Job Responsibilities
The primary responsibility of the postdoctoral researcher is to conduct research.
Teaching may also be included in the job responsibilities, but it will not exceed one-fifth of the working time. Within the framework of the employment, there is an opportunity for three weeks of higher education pedagogical training. The purpose of the position is to develop independence as a researcher and create conditions for further qualification.
You will be responsible for designing, planning, and independently conducting experiments, including developing project ideas. Supervision of PhD or master's students may also be part of the job responsibilities.
Job Responsibilities Include:
- Designing and developing electrolyte additives to optimize electrochemical performance, improve stability, and extend battery lifespan.
- Installing, operating, and maintaining testing systems for redox flow batteries.
- Developing own operando techniques to evaluate cell performance and gain fundamental insights into battery behavior.
- Analyzing experimental data, preparing reports, and publishing research results.
- Administration related to the above job responsibilities.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the postdoctoral position, candidates must have obtained a doctoral degree, or a foreign degree deemed equivalent to a doctoral degree, in the relevant field of study. Proof of meeting the eligibility requirement must be submitted no later than at the time the employment decision is made. Primarily, candidates who have obtained their degree no more than three years before the application deadline will be considered. If there are special reasons, the doctoral degree may have been obtained earlier.
Other Requirements:
- Excellent command of English, both spoken and written.
- Doctoral degree in engineering, chemistry, materials science, or a related field.
- Practical experience in electrochemistry and redox flow batteries.
- Documented ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative research team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and analytical abilities.
Assessment Criteria
This is a qualifying position primarily focused on research. The position is intended as an initial step in a career, and the assessment of applicants will primarily be based on their scientific merits and potential as researchers. Special attention will be given to scientific ability within the subject area.
When hiring a postdoctoral researcher, the following will serve as the basis for assessment:
- Strong ability to develop and conduct high-quality research.
- Pedagogical ability.
Other Merits:
- Knowledge and experience with Zn-based batteries.
- Experience in material characterization and related techniques (SEM, XRD, vibrational spectroscopy, etc.).
- Experience in analysis coding (Python or MATLAB).
Consideration will be given to how the applicant, through their experience and competence, is assessed to complement and strengthen the research within the department/institution and contribute to its future development.

Other Information
The position is limited to 2 years and is full-time. The employment is limited according to collective agreements, “Agreement on fixed-term employment as a postdoctoral researcher”.
