Job Description
For many years, AFRY has successfully supported both Swedish and international energy producers, and we are now focusing on further expansion in this exciting market. Hydropower in Sweden is under development as we move towards a power system with 100% renewable energy production. With 500 hydropower engineers, AFRY is one of the world's largest consulting companies in hydropower. Currently, we have about 90 people working with hydropower in Sweden, of which approximately 20 belong to the Hydro Power Automation section.
We now need to strengthen our group with more experienced electrical designers/construction leaders who want to help drive development in the field.
In this role, you will have overall technical responsibility for the projects. You will have both a comprehensive perspective on the design and can also be involved in the design work where you help shape the technical solutions and how they will be implemented. You will work with design and automation at power plants in projects of various sizes, which includes work with electrical and control systems, magnetization systems, and relay protection. The design is primarily done in Elprocad, and since we often perform customer-specific and facility-specific solutions, you will have the opportunity for both variation and development.
You will drive the projects from start to finish, closely following the development and progress of the design in close dialogue with the designers and other stakeholders. Since you will also delegate tasks within the team, the role also includes a mentoring part where you support your colleagues through technical guidance and act as a sounding board when needed.
You will become part of a knowledgeable team consisting of both junior and senior colleagues. The majority of the work is performed at our office, but there is flexibility to work remotely as long as it works for the tasks. Travel is a natural part of the job, ranging from single days to week-long periods, for example, during the implementation phase of projects.
Qualifications
We highly value personal competencies to ensure you thrive in the role. Since a large part of the work involves understanding and analyzing complex issues and problems, we are looking for someone with good problem-solving skills. You work in a structured and meticulous manner with an eye for detail, and have the ability to switch between seeing the whole project and how individual parts affect and interact with each other.
Furthermore, you are comfortable taking initiative and independently driving projects forward. You have a solution-oriented approach that allows you to smoothly and flexibly handle unexpected events while supporting and adapting to your colleagues to achieve common goals together.
In addition to personal competencies, we are looking for someone with several years of experience in electrical design within electrical power. You have good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written, as both languages are frequently used within AFRY and with our clients. Since travel is a natural part of the job, a valid driver's license (B) is required.
We consider it an advantage if you have experience in hydropower or similar power production, as well as experience in testing (FAT/SAT) and commissioning. If you have experience in technical project management, automation, control systems, and/or relay protection, we also see that as an advantage.
Since the position may involve working in security-classified areas, drug testing and security clearance may be required before employment can begin.
