Cardiology/HIA

The Cardiology Department C4 belongs to the internal medicine area, which also includes the medicine department, stroke department, and geriatrics department.

C4 has two medical teams and three nursing teams. The Cardiology Department C4 has 15 care places, all with individual care space. Two of these 15 places are HIA rooms. There is cardiac monitoring in all patient rooms, arrhythmia or ischemia monitoring. Currently, light HIA is conducted as pulmonary edema with CPAP treatment is cared for in the ICU. In the near future, C4 will have CPAP treatment.

The most common diagnoses are acute coronary syndrome (ACS), cardiac arrhythmias, heart failure, postoperative care after CABG, and pacemaker implantations as well as pulmonary embolism. Inpatients are investigated for ACS, and we have a good collaboration with Nya Karolinska in Solna. Patients are flown to Stockholm, usually by helicopter, sometimes by Swedish Ambulance Air. This involves logistics with the hospital's planning unit and heart/vessel at NKS. If patients undergo PCI or CABG, they return to our department for aftercare before discharge. It is unique to follow the patient's care process in this way, and it is exciting and educational.

The condition of heart patients can change quickly, and it is important to act accordingly. We work with safe routines and have good cooperation with the emergency department and ICU. Additionally, we maintain close contact with care placement coordinators, PEV, the heart clinic, and the AK clinic.

Tasks not directly related to care are performed as much as possible by other staff.

Your tasks

We conduct shared care in each care team, and due to the tightened working hours regulations, we have a turnaround during office hours where the nurse is a resource on the department. Every morning, we have a brief check-in on the department, including the occupational and physiotherapist. The rounds start at 9:30 AM. In addition, the nurse's usual tasks on the cardiology department/HIA are included.

We offer professional development in the form of a three-step training program in cardiac care. The three steps consist of two to three days of training in Stockholm at various hospitals. The possibility of a training position for specialist training in cardiac care can be discussed during employment.

Who are you?

You who are applying are a licensed nurse. We consider it an advantage if you have experience or education in cardiology or emergency care.

If you have not worked in cardiology before but are curious and want to learn new things, you are also welcome!

You enjoy working in a team and collaborating across the entire department when the situation requires it. You are attentive and independent. There are often changes in pace around a heart patient. Flexibility and prioritization are part of our daily routine. A positive attitude towards departmental work is essential as we depend on each other to provide professional cardiac care to the residents of Gotland. You have a desire to develop and also share your experiences.

Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.
