About the Company

GKN Aerospace Sweden is part of GKN Aerospace, which manufactures engine components, aircraft structures, cabin windows, wiring, and much more for many of the world's aircraft. The companies in the Aerospace division that work with aircraft engine parts together form Engines, and at the facility in Trollhättan, advanced parts for engines for aircraft and space rockets are developed and manufactured. They also work with engine maintenance.

The Performance department focuses on propulsion systems and gas turbine technology. Primarily, we work with RM12/RM16 in JAS 39 Gripen but also stationary gas turbines and next-generation engine concepts for flying applications within the areas of engine function and performance analysis.

Your Responsibilities

In the role of performance engineer, you will belong to our Performance department and work with propulsion systems and gas turbine technology. You will work on projects involving both certified engines and next-generation aircraft engines where we focus on performance analysis and calculations, system modeling, aircraft and engine integration, testing and verification, as well as method and tool development.

Your responsibilities will include;

• Engine and aircraft concept studies
• Analysis of aircraft regarding performance, usage, mission types, and profiles
• Conceptual performance design, engine geometry, and architecture
• Analysis of the interaction between aircraft and engine, regarding performance, usage, mission types, and profiles, as well as understanding the size, type, and effect of engine function-affecting systems and interfaces
• System knowledge of full engines and understanding of requirements, analysis, and verification
• Performance analysis of aircraft engines in service and future engine concepts
• Participate in the development of flying full engine systems and demonstrators from concept to implementation with a focus on engine function and performance
• Troubleshooting, problem-solving, and investigation related to the use of engines in service or during maintenance/testing
• Interaction with relevant disciplines such as aerodynamics, turbomachinery, mechanical design, testing, thermal analysis, control engineering

Your Profile

We believe you have a master's degree in aerospace, mechanical engineering, or physics with a few years of relevant work experience and a curiosity for advanced technology. You have analytical skills, enjoy problem-solving, and are a team player who thrives in an innovative environment.

To succeed in this role, we would like you to have;

• Knowledge of jet engines/gas turbines and aerodynamics
• Experience in system modeling or tool development
• Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written

Meritorious;

• Experience working in the aerospace or defense industry
• Experience in programming and scripting (e.g., Python, Matlab, C++, Fortran)
• Experience using relevant gas turbine simulation software (e.g., Gasturb, Proosis, NPSS, Gestpan, etc.)

The position requires you to undergo and be approved according to the applicable regulations for security protection. For positions where GKN's customer has requirements for security classification, this may involve requirements for certain citizenship.
