We are looking for someone who is committed to working for and with our children and young people with various disabilities. The work is stimulating and requires both responsiveness, responsibility, and creativity. With us, you will work in a team with wonderful colleagues and have opportunities for development.

We are looking for someone who is trained as a support educator or equivalent and who is interested in taking a temporary position for about 6 months with good opportunities for extension and a permanent position.

About Solberga

Solberga village is a non-profit association that has offered housing and adapted primary school with a Waldorf orientation in Ytterjärna for children and young people with disabilities for 80 years. We offer a unique village community where housing, school, and leisure activities are integrated, surrounded by a beautiful environment with the forest and the sea as our closest neighbors.

What does the job entail?

  • You will work closely with our children and young people in their home environment, providing individual support and assistance with hygiene, meals, activities, etc. The children living with us have various diagnoses such as intellectual disabilities, Down syndrome, autism, etc. Our children and young people have extensive care needs, and threats and violence may also occur.
  • Together with your colleagues, you will plan and implement activities, assist with daily routines, and create meaningful leisure time for our children and young people.
  • You will use various communication tools, such as signs and pictures, to create understanding and interaction. We start from a low-arousal approach in communication with the children.
  • You will, together with your colleagues, take care of the children's home environment, which includes cooking, dishwashing, and cleaning. You play an important role in creating a cozy and welcoming environment in the student homes.
  • As part of the job, you will document in the children's social journal, which requires you to have a good ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish.

What is required of you?

  • You are curious about people and have a genuine interest in working with children and young people with different conditions. You enjoy playing and interacting with children.
  • You have a good ability to empathize with others and treat everyone with respect and warmth.
  • You are flexible and can adapt to different situations. You take responsibility for your tasks and contribute to a good work environment.
  • You enjoy working with others and see the value in sharing your knowledge and experiences.
  • You have previous experience working with children and young people with disabilities.
  • You have training as a support educator or equivalent in care and welfare.
  • You have a B driver's license.
