We are looking for a piping project manager for an assignment in Stockholm.
This is a consultancy assignment.
The position is full-time.
The assignment involves close collaboration with the client, which places high demands on flexibility and teamwork.
The assignment and tasks
The client's BECCS project is based on a global need for negative emissions, a need emphasized in the IPCC's 2018 report on the climate goal of 1.5C. The report reinforced the importance of carbon sinks and pointed out that even with drastic emission reductions, countries must seek solutions for carbon capture to achieve the Paris Agreement. Bio-Energy Carbon Capture and Storage (BECCS) offers a promising way forward, especially for Sweden, where political and social engagement for climate neutrality is strong. With support from EU funding and an established Swedish climate policy from 2017, BECCS represents both a local and global response to these challenges, aiming to create sustainable solutions on a large scale.
The client is now seeking a piping project manager with the following areas of responsibility:
- Lead all piping engineering aspects of the BECCS project, ensuring that project specifications are followed and managing integration with other disciplines.
- Ensure that all piping engineering aspects of the BECCS project are delivered efficiently, meeting technical requirements and quality standards.
- Provide technical guidance and oversight to ensure that design and processes meet regulatory and project requirements.
- Review and approve piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID), piping isometric drawings, piping MTO, main layouts, and other piping-related documents.
- Oversee piping review of the 3D model and manage interfaces with other disciplines, functions, and contractors to ensure cohesive project execution and facilitate effective communication and collaboration.
- Lead technical investigations related to piping engineering knowledge in collaboration with other functions, design teams, and contractors as necessary.
- Manage input from other functions such as HSE, operations, and maintenance to achieve optimal piping solutions and meet the technical goals of the BECCS project.
- Provide leadership and support to the piping engineering team, including resource allocation between work packages to ensure project goals are met.
- Oversee the performance of design and engineering contractors and subcontractors, ensuring they meet project specifications and standards.
- Engage with contractors and other stakeholders to define overall technical specifications and design criteria, ensuring that clear deliverables and standards are communicated and met throughout the BECCS project.
- Report to the Engineering Lead on progress, challenges, and technical issues, providing regular updates on the status of piping deliveries and escalating significant risks or issues.
- Identify and manage risks related to piping aspects of the BECCS project and develop and implement action plans to address potential issues.
- Promote a collaborative and innovative work environment, encouraging a culture of safety, quality, and excellence
Requirements (Note: Mandatory)
Extensive experience in piping engineering (10+ years), preferably with a focus on large-scale projects in the energy, oil, gas, or related process industries Experience collaborating with international suppliers, contractors, and cross-functional teams Strong technical expertise in piping engineering Ability to provide technical guidance to ensure that design and processes meet regulatory and project requirements Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Piping Engineering, or equivalent Deep understanding of piping engineering principles, methods, and practices Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and industry standards, both globally and in Sweden Deep understanding of piping design, stress analysis, piping materials, component selection, and construction methods Proven ability to manage risks, drive quality control, and lead technical design reviews while maintaining project timelines and budgets Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills Good command of English, both spoken and written. Knowledge of Swedish is advantageous but not a requirement Ability to manage interfaces with other disciplines and contractors Ability to meet deliverables in pressured environments while maintaining focus on quality and results
