We are looking for a Project Manager HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) for an assignment in Stockholm.

This is a consulting assignment.

The position is full-time.

The assignment involves close collaboration with the client, which places high demands on flexibility and teamwork.

The Assignment

The client's BECCS project is based on a global need for negative emissions, a need emphasized in the IPCC report from 2018 regarding the 1.5C climate goal. This report reinforced the importance of carbon sinks and pointed out that even with drastic emission reductions, countries must work to develop carbon capture solutions to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement. Bioenergy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS) offers a promising way forward, especially for Sweden, where there is strong political and social engagement for climate neutrality. With support from EU funding and an established Swedish climate policy from 2017, BECCS represents both a local and global response to these challenges, aiming to create sustainable solutions on a large scale. The changing Nordic energy market also underscores the need for BECCS. The client's district heating operations must now compete with low-emission alternatives such as heat pumps.

They are now looking for a project manager HSE with the following responsibilities:

· Responsible for ensuring the development and implementation of comprehensive HSE policies and programs, as well as ensuring compliance with Swedish and international safety regulations.

· Ensure consistent HSE planning and execution in accordance with project requirements, industry standards, and regulatory guidelines throughout all project phases.

· Ensure compliance with Swedish safety regulations, legal frameworks (e.g., the Work Environment Act), and internal rules regarding workplace safety and health.

· Coordinate BAS-U and BAS-P case managers and ensure they effectively support their respective areas of responsibility during the planning, design, and execution phases.

· Facilitate collaboration between BAS-P and BAS-U case managers to ensure compliance with Swedish law and project requirements.

· Provide technical guidance and support to BAS-P and BAS-U case managers as well as other project members.

· Monitor and report HSE performance indicators and provide regular updates to the CAPEX director.

· Support BAS-P and BAS-U case managers in identifying, assessing, and mitigating HSE risks throughout all phases of the BECCS project.

· Allocate necessary resources and support to BAS-U and BAS-P case managers to ensure they can effectively meet their responsibilities, ensuring transparency and compliance.

· Promote a culture of continuous improvement of HSE practices across the entire BECCS project.

Requirements (Note: Mandatory)

Extensive experience (15+ years) in health, safety, and environmental management within the construction industry, with a strong background in identifying and managing safety risks. Strong leadership and team management skills; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to develop and implement effective HSE training programs; strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Deep understanding of HSE principles, methods, and practices; deep understanding of Swedish safety regulations; knowledge of risk assessment and risk identification techniques. Proven ability to manage HSE activities and ensure compliance with Swedish regulatory standards; ability to maintain a high level of oversight and control; strong analytical and decision-making skills. Master's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field, as well as relevant certifications in occupational health and safety planning such as BAS-P and/or BAS-U. Good knowledge of Swedish and English is required.
