Regionteater Väst is Sweden's largest touring performing arts institution for children and young people and one of the country's largest producers of dance and theater performances for a young audience. We create performing arts that are accessible and challenging, primarily aimed at people aged 6–16. We have two production houses, one in Borås where we rehearse and produce dance performances, and one in Uddevalla for theater production. Our mission comes from the Västra Götaland Region and Uddevalla Municipality.

The organization has an annual turnover of approximately 55 million SEK and employs 65 full-time staff, of which about 50 are permanent employees – artists, technicians, and administrators – all working to give children and young people the opportunity to experience live performing arts that place their voices at the center.

As a theater technician, we offer you a developing and qualified job. The technical department works in both of our production houses, one in Uddevalla and one in Borås. The current position is based in Borås. In the technical department, we work collectively with all technical aspects of the theater, but within an organization where each person has extended responsibilities in different areas.

We are looking for someone with expertise in one or more of the following technical areas: lighting, sound, and/or video. We work across boundaries between performance technology and the production of new works. You will be part of the technical team on tour, which involves physically demanding building and dismantling. Work during the tour may also include tour leadership responsibilities and audience hosting. Performance technology is the primary task, but also maintenance of the theater's existing technology.

You will report to the head of the technical department and the technical coordinator. The work is primarily scheduled during daytime hours, Monday to Friday, but evening and weekend work may occur. The job involves being on tour periodically with hotel stays and travel.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with a genuine and broad interest in theater technology in all its forms and who sees the task of creating technically brilliant performances in a small format as an exciting challenge. You should be proficient in advanced programming in Q-lab. You need to be unpretentious and enjoy being part of a technical department where everyone works together and supports each other as needed. A B driver's license is required, and a C driver's license is an advantage.

You have a technical education or equivalent work experience that fits the role. You will be part of a small team of colleagues who work closely together during tours, so we believe you are social and have an open mind towards people's differences. In your professional role, you are a role model for the children and young people who make up most of our audience and meet them in a natural and relaxed manner. You have good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
