Cultural Administration is Hiring a Librarian for the Children's Department

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Do you have a degree in library and information science? We need another colleague for the Children's Department at the City Library! We are looking for someone who, together with us, wants to make the library a joyful and obvious place for everyone. We strive to take children's interests into account and want you to help us develop work with reading-inspiring and creative activities for, with, and by children.

We are looking for someone who is curious and wants to work to promote reading for the target group aged 0-9 years, and who, together with colleagues, will help develop our children's activities with a particular focus on children's participation. You will plan activities that provide an entry point to the library's media and inspire children's desire and curiosity for reading. Together with colleagues, you will develop the operations in the library space, digitally, and through outreach from a child's perspective.

Your duties include information service work where you are scheduled for days, evenings, and weekends. You will also work on our two book buses and perform other tasks within the library operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with a degree in Library and Information Science. You have experience working with reading-inspiring and creative activities for the target group of children aged 0-9 years. You can see the library from a child's perspective and meet each child curiously based on their needs.

You have good knowledge of children's literature, especially easy-to-read and adapted media, and the ability to plan and implement program activities in a large organization. You have experience with digital reading promotion work.

As a person, you are outgoing and curious, and you have the ability to translate children's here-and-now perspectives into interesting and innovative library operations. You have good collaboration skills and look forward to working both independently and together with your colleagues.

The City Library is a well-visited library, which means that at certain times it has a high pace, and it is a requirement that you feel comfortable in new situations, can prioritize, and enjoy interacting with people.

For your interview, you need to bring your passport/national ID/certificate of residence issued by the Swedish Tax Agency, and possibly proof of residence permit if you have citizenship outside the EU/EEA. This is to ensure your identity and confirm that you have the right to work in Sweden.
