Temporary Librarian Position

The University Library serves as a meeting place for the entire university and offers an inspiring study environment at both campuses.

Our range of media and services is aimed at and used by students, staff, and the public; interactions with users take place both in physical environments and through digital channels. Scientific information provision and services for education and research are areas included in our mission. We support, teach, and guide students and researchers in seeking and using information as well as in the academic writing process. Additionally, we assist researchers in publishing and making their research accessible, as well as navigating the transition to open science. The university library also offers additional support to students in various forms, such as student health, targeted educational support for disabilities, and study guidance.

We are now looking for a temporary librarian.

Job Responsibilities

If you enjoy varied tasks and appreciate meeting users, you may be the person we are looking for. You will be part of the Media Provision operational group, where work with the acquisition and accessibility of media, both printed and digital, will be relevant. Tasks in other areas of the library's operations may also be included as we have a need for reinforcement in several areas. In addition, you will participate in providing service to our users at the information desk and through other communication channels, as well as other commonly occurring tasks at the library.

Your Background

We are looking for someone with an academic degree in library and information science or equivalent. The work as a librarian requires good written and oral language skills in Swedish and English, as well as generally good IT skills. You should have a few years of professional experience from libraries.

Competence in the following areas is meritorious:

• Experience working in university or college libraries
• Experience in practical web work
• Management of media, printed and digital, at libraries
• Supporting and guiding researchers in issues related to information retrieval, reference management, research data management, or publishing.

Your Qualities

As a person, you are service-oriented and user-focused. You have a pedagogical approach in your interactions with individuals and groups, and you are curious and willing to take on new and challenging tasks. Since we work flexibly with the tasks that the library handles, you are expected to have good collaboration skills and a sense of responsibility.

Employment and Start Date

The position is a temporary contract at 100% with a start date of 2025-06-01 or by agreement and lasting until 2026-02-28.

Work location: Sundsvall or Östersund
