We are looking for a Project Manager in Civil Engineering for a project on the Öland Bridge, for the Swedish Transport Administration in Kalmar.
This is a consulting assignment, with a scope of 40-60 percent.
The assignment involves close collaboration with the client, which places high demands on flexibility and teamwork.
The Assignment
The Swedish Transport Administration is requesting 1 resource consultant to act as project manager for the project: Repair of the Öland Bridge. The consultant will be the project manager and thus has the main responsibility for the project. The assignment includes leading the assigned project from start to finish, including planning and controlling the implementation, as well as closure and feedback on experiences.
The project manager is responsible for ensuring that the contract is followed and reports internally on matters regarding time, cost, and quality. There is also a strong focus on how the project affects traffic situations. The project manager has the support of an existing project organization and internal technical support from the Swedish Transport Administration.
Leading the project also means collaborating outwardly with the project's stakeholders. Examples of important parties include Kalmar County Traffic (KLT), surrounding municipalities, emergency services, police, and all who use the bridge. The project places great importance on informing our customers about why and how we are carrying out the repair of the Öland Bridge. The repair of the Öland Bridge is a frequently debated topic among the public and the media.
As a project manager, it is important that you recognize the importance of communication. You as a project manager should:
- Represent the Swedish Transport Administration during the implementation of contracts as delegated.
- Provide the Swedish Transport Administration's project management with ongoing information about the work technically, economically, and temporally.
- Ensure that the assigned contract is executed in accordance with all requirements set forth in the contract.
- Assist and provide the Swedish Transport Administration and its project management with documentation in case of disputes.
- Report the contract's economy and status monthly by following up and documenting changes and additional work as well as quantity adjustments.
- Follow up on quality work and its documentation according to contract requirements.
- Follow up on systematic work environment efforts according to contract requirements.
- Perform spot checks in ongoing contracts based on the project's control plan.
- Keep a personal diary, log, or equivalent.
- Establish good and respectful collaboration with contracted contractors and consulting services.
- Participate in the review of work preparations and be present during the execution of critical work moments.
- Participate in the meetings that occur in contracts, for consulting services, and internally within the Swedish Transport Administration.
- Write and distribute minutes from the above meetings.
- In time-critical, traffic-sensitive contracts, be able to work evenings, nights, weekends, and during holidays.
- In case of urgent unplanned work, try to be present during the day, evening, or night if deemed necessary.
- Assist with technical solutions and feedback on experiences and participate in design and preparation of request documents.
- Manage and input documentation in the Project Portal.
- Perform simpler inspections in the form of observations and documentation.
- Be able to register and plan in BaTMan.
- Produce, develop, and assist with simpler design documents.
- Participate in contact with authorities, designers, and property owners.
- Participate in handling deviations.
- Participate in processes and working methods – implement measures.
- Participate and follow up on risk management.
- Participate in procurement, start, construction, and closing meetings.
- Participate in inspections and assessments.
- Participate in the project's and contract's quality and environmental work.
- Contribute to creating good relationships with landowners/stakeholders.
- Ensure that the contractor's self-control regarding quality, environment, safety, and work environment is carried out according to agreed plans.
- Contribute with technical solutions and feedback on experiences during procurement.
