Summer Substitute in School at SiS Youth Home Stigby

The Swedish National Board of Institutional Care, SiS, is an authority responsible for individually adapted compulsory care for young people with complex psychosocial problems and for adults with substance abuse. SiS also implements closed youth care. We do this at youth homes and homes for adults with substance abuse throughout the country. Working with us at SiS will be an exciting challenge. SiS Youth Home Stigby in Visingsö has space for about 30 young people and receives non-compulsory school-age boys with psychosocial issues, criminality, and substance abuse. We are divided into a MBB department (reception and needs assessment), four treatment departments, and we also have an aftercare unit in Jönköping.

Job Description

SiS Youth Home Stigby's school offers education for 32 young people. The students study within IMA. They are offered subjects from primary school, various high school subjects, and vocational practical training with elements from working life in the form of APL. There are five vocational programs: industrial technology, crafts, construction, vehicle and transport, and restaurant and food program. Additionally, we have a football orientation as football is an important part of both school and treatment activities. Teaching occurs in small groups. The school is a very important success factor within institutional care.

Do you want to take on a challenge with a different assignment in an exciting environment and in a smaller context? Then the job as a summer substitute in the school is a meaningful challenge.

We are looking for summer substitutes who will work in the school during the summer. Many of the students have had a disrupted schooling, and therefore we want to offer them school even in the summer this year. For the students, school is very important, and therefore we need to expand with hourly substitutes who help us provide the teaching time that the students are entitled to.

In your role, you will replace regular staff in the operation when they are absent. This may mean that you take on the role of a teacher in various subjects. In addition to teaching theoretical subjects, we will organize other activities, such as photography, sports activities, etc. Therefore, we would like you to have a leisure interest that you want to combine with the school assignment. Working hours are scheduled during the day.

We who work here often commute together from Jönköping, and the journey by car and ferry takes about 1 hour.

As a substitute at SiS, you will undergo a tailored introductory training to prepare you for your assignment.

Qualifications

Your personal suitability is the key to life-changing transformation. Experience is valuable, but most importantly, you want to make a difference for each individual and that you are flexible. Therefore, you need to have a good ability to create engagement and participation. Equally important is that you have a well-grounded positive view of people, great empathetic ability, and an ability to create good relationships. High adaptability and responsiveness are prerequisites for understanding new environments and thus being able to contribute to a functioning operation. It is important that you are responsible, proactive, have good collaboration skills, and can set boundaries when needed.

You should also have:

• Completed upper secondary education
• No experience required, but we prefer that you are studying in teacher education or social work, or have tried working with young people in professional life or in leisure activities
• Driver's license B
• Good Swedish in speech and writing

It is meritorious if you have:

• Relevant education and/or work experience
• Some form of leisure interest or knowledge of activities that you can have together with the youth

Employment:

The position is a temporary employment of 100% during the summer of 2025, starting from June 23 to August 8, with possible extension. There is an opportunity to work temporary employment before and after the summer.
