The role of Youth Democracy Librarian with us

As a democracy librarian, you are a key person in the library's work to strengthen freedom of expression and increase participation in society.

You will be the library's face to the public, an inspirer who meets visitors and creates inclusive conversations. With a responsive and pedagogical approach, you help people navigate complex societal issues, develop their critical thinking skills, and use digital platforms responsibly.

An important part of the role is to support children and young people in their information seeking and learning. You have good knowledge of how digital tools can be used to create meaningful meetings, both physically and online. You will also build and maintain a network with other professionals in the municipality who work with youth. Together with schools, leisure activities, and other relevant actors, you create opportunities for young people to meet, influence, and actively participate in democratic processes.

You actively work to ensure that the library is a safe and open meeting place where people can converse, exchange opinions, and share different perspectives. By organizing discussions, debates, and workshops, you strengthen democratic dialogue and contribute to a vibrant public conversation.

Your profile

You have the ability to create and lead constructive conversations, both in physical and digital environments. You are creative, innovative, and see the library as an important and vibrant meeting place for dialogue and learning. Additionally, you have a good ability to build relationships and collaborate with others who work with youth in the municipality. You express yourself well in Swedish, both spoken and written, as this is required in daily work. Great importance will be placed on personal suitability.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has a degree in library and information science or other relevant education
• Is experienced and comfortable using digital tools and AI to disseminate information and create engagement
• Has experience engaging children and young people in societal issues and democratic processes

It is an advantage if you have:

• A driving license (B)
