The Children and Youth Administration is responsible for Halmstad's municipal preschools, primary schools, adapted primary school, after-school care, and cultural school. Every day, approximately 16,000 children attend one of our facilities.

SCHOOL LIBRARIAN FOR KÄRLEKENS VO

We are looking for a school librarian for the Kärleken area, which includes Frennarps byskola, Sofiebergsskolan, Kärlekens grundskola, and Kärlekens adapted primary school.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

To be a successful school librarian with us, it is important that you have the ability to meet and inspire our students in their encounter with literature and language. You work in accordance with the curriculum and other governing documents and contribute to the operations with your special competence. A fundamental prerequisite for learning is a developed language, and the role of the school librarian is key in that work. The work of inspiring and developing reading interest and reading strategies among students is done in collaboration with teaching teachers, student health personnel, and other staff at the school. You should have the ability to adapt the library's activities based on the needs of students and staff. This may involve working with teaching staff to drive reading and writing projects, holding inspiring book talks, and being available for individual needs of teachers and students.

We see it as beneficial if you have a background in education, as collaboration with the school's pedagogical staff is crucial for strengthening students' achievement and development in language and communication. We see the school library as an integrated part of our educational operations.

We see the following overarching job responsibilities for you as a school librarian:

• Actively work with updated and structured content in the school library.
• Teach library usage, information retrieval, and source criticism together with our teachers.
• Collaborate with our teachers, student health, and other staff to promote reading and writing development.
• Promote reading interest through, for example, book talks, projects, reading circles, etc.
• Work with students and staff to develop the library's area of use.
• Actively read children's and youth literature and stay updated on the latest published literature.
• Handle practical library work such as cataloging, book care, etc.
• Recognize and provide support for students with special needs, such as Legimus and reading services.

QUALIFICATIONS

You have a bachelor's degree from a librarian program or education in library and information science. You have previous experience as a school librarian and good knowledge of the governing documents of primary school.

You have experience collaborating with teachers and engaging in reading promotion work where you meet students both individually and in groups. As a person, you are clear in your leadership, proactive, structured, communicative, and have a high relational ability. You have a good ability to inspire students and youth to develop a love for reading. You have the ability to meet students with different needs and conditions.
