The Workplace

Skegrie is growing, and therefore we need more employees. This autumn, the new premises for grades 7-9 will be ready, and we will move in. This means you will start working in a completely new home economics classroom. In the Skegrie principal area, we are close to each other. We work together in common networks, activities, and educational initiatives between and within our various operations. With us, we have the opportunity to follow the children from preschool to high school in a 1-16 year perspective.

Skegrie school is a school where all students and staff come to learn for life and develop to their full potential. The school works with inclusive learning environments and ensures that all students are met based on their own conditions with a focus on knowledge.

Knowledge – Community - Joy - are guiding principles that permeate teaching in all departments and grades in the Skegrie principal area.

Our preschool children receive education on sustainability issues in collaboration with Green Flag, and at school, movement is an important element in all teaching. The school is a member of both Pep and the movement initiative. Our principal area offers meals close to children and students as all our units have their own kitchens.

Skegrie school is a K-9 school with an attached after-school program. We actively work to be a school of the times, and the school's students learn in many different ways, both digitally and with pen and paper, and learning occurs in interaction. The school actively works with social interaction and has organized break activities every school day. We believe in good communication between school and home and regularly inform guardians about teaching and activities at the school. About 450 students aged 6 to 15 attend the school, and of these, over 200 have after-school placements.

Job Responsibilities

As a home economics teacher at Skegrie school, you will work as part of a team for grades 7-9, where you will plan, implement, follow up, and analyze together with your closest colleagues. You will have close collaboration with the staff in the school restaurant, and together with our award-winning head chef, you will build a collaboration around ecological cooking, food waste, and joy in food. We take joint responsibility for the students' knowledge development and social development. We work with continuous development of our operations. Our prioritized areas are language development, grades, and assessment. We have close cooperation with guardians regarding the students' learning and development.

Qualifications

We are looking for a licensed home economics teacher with the ability to teach grades 6-9. It is an advantage if you also have several years of experience working in schools. Skegrie school is growing, and there is an opportunity to coordinate home economics teaching with another subject. Together with you and your competence, we will explore different possibilities.

To thrive as a home economics teacher, you need to have an interest in pedagogy, be development-oriented, positive, and possess good communication skills as well as the ability to see the whole picture. You enjoy working in an environment that demands high levels of responsibility, flexibility, decisiveness, and social competence.

You meet children and parents in a respectful manner. You collaborate with your colleagues in the school to develop a meaningful and stimulating operation together. Through your experience, you are creative and develop a good learning environment for the students. You inspire and engage the students while setting high expectations for them and believing that they can meet your expectations.
