Sjöpark School is Gällivare Municipality's only municipal secondary school in the locality and is located next to Sjöparken and Isborgen, the municipality's ice arena. The school has approximately 410 students and about 55 staff members. The school has recently been renovated to meet the requirements for a secondary school and is modern in its design. The school works extensively on creating good learning environments, collegial learning, and developing sustainable structures to prepare students for the future. The school has leisure leaders working every day. There are also school nurses and school counselors on site. Additionally, there are special educators, social educators, and study and career counselors. Two key educators work on developing our digital competence, and the school has substitute teachers who cover short-term absences. The school is divided into four teams led by a lead teacher. New and unqualified staff are mentored by experienced and qualified colleagues as part of their introduction and ongoing daily work with teaching. The school offers opportunities for students with needs to work in smaller teaching groups. A preparatory class for newly arrived students is available at the school.

Job Responsibilities

As an educator at Sjöpark School, you will work with everything related to teaching. You prepare, plan, implement, and evaluate students' progress and your own teaching. You work closely with guardians. You actively participate in school meetings and in your own development. Most educators also work as responsible mentors in a class. This role can be combined with other subjects or studies if desired.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a teaching degree and certification for the mentioned subject. We seek someone who is clear, driven, and has an easy time building good relationships and collaborating well with students, guardians, and colleagues. We see that you are engaged, solution-focused, and enjoy thinking innovatively. We place great emphasis on personal suitability. Within the framework of the national minority language law, Gällivare Municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli, and Finnish. Knowledge of any of these languages is an asset when applying for a position in Gällivare Municipality.
