Professor in Electromagnetic Modeling and Simulation
Luleå University of Technology is experiencing strong growth with world-leading expertise in several research areas. We shape the future through innovative education and groundbreaking research results, and based on the Arctic region, we create global societal benefits. Our scientific and artistic research and education are conducted in close collaboration with international, national, and regional companies, public actors, and leading universities. Luleå University of Technology has a total turnover of nearly 2.1 billion SEK per year. We currently have 1,900 employees and 18,700 students.
In the coming years, multi-billion investments will be made in Norrbotten and Västerbotten in large projects aimed at a more sustainable society both nationally and globally. Luleå University of Technology is involved in several of these highly relevant research projects and the societal transformation that follows. We have a wide range of educational programs to match the skills that are in demand. We hope you will help us build the sustainable companies and societies of the future.
Luleå University of Technology is in an expansive phase and is implementing several initiatives to strengthen research and education in areas related to the green transition and the electrification of society. The Electronics Systems group is expanding, and we are looking for a professor to enhance our expertise in the field of electromagnetic modeling and simulation. The ongoing electrification is giving rise to an increasing number of sources of interference and negative impact effects, which is the main reason for the recruitment need. We are looking for someone with a background in electromagnetic calculations who can contribute to our externally funded projects.
The position is located at the Department of Systems and Space Technology, where Luleå University of Technology has gathered research in electronics, control engineering, robotics, and signal processing. The department has a turnover of approximately 330 million SEK, with education accounting for half and external funding for research for the other half. The department has well-developed collaborations with research institutes, industry partners, universities, and other authorities in both research projects and student projects.
Subject Description
Electronics systems encompass electronic design, measurement technology, and electromagnetic compatibility for the control, monitoring, and instrumentation of technical processes and systems, with close and broad connections to applications and applied research.
Job Responsibilities
We are looking for someone with a profile in electromagnetic calculations, preferably within integral equation-based methods. Areas such as macro modeling and uncertainty quantification within electromagnetic computational techniques are important for the group's current activities and future development.
As a professor, your responsibilities include both research and teaching, with the current need primarily in research. The tasks include project work, project management, and reporting. The group also has a need to strengthen its opportunities for European funding, which means that tasks also include working to secure external research funding for the subject from e.g., Chips JU or similar. National funding sources such as Vinnova and the Energy Agency are also of great importance. Supervision of student projects, theses, and doctoral students is included as part of the responsibilities. Finally, it is important for the group to be externally active and visible in the field and to communicate progress verbally and in writing.
