Business Description

Sjöpark School is Gällivare Municipality's only municipal secondary school in the locality and is located next to Sjöparken and Isborgen, the municipality's ice arena. The school has approximately 410 students and about 55 staff. The school has recently been renovated to meet the requirements for a secondary school and is modern in its design. The school works extensively to create good learning environments, collegial learning, and to establish sustainable structures to prepare students for the future. The school has leisure leaders working every day. There are also school nurses and school counselors on site. Additionally, there are special educators, social educators, and study and career counselors. Two key educators work to develop our digital competence, and the school has substitute teachers who cover short-term absences. The school is divided into four teams led by a lead teacher. New and unqualified staff are mentored by experienced and qualified colleagues as part of their introduction and ongoing daily work with teaching. The school offers opportunities for students with needs to work in smaller teaching groups. A preparatory class for newly arrived students is available at the school.

Job Responsibilities

Teach physical education and other relevant teaching tasks for grades 7-9. You will work in a team and be responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating teaching according to our governing documents. Mentorship is included.

Qualifications

Teaching degree with teaching certification. You should be responsible, clear, and driven, and have an easy time building good relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues. Engagement, solution focus, innovative thinking, interest in and ability to collaborate are qualities that the school values. We place great importance on personal suitability.

Upon employment – a current extract from the police criminal record must be presented.

Within the framework of the national minority language law, Gällivare Municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli, and Finnish. Knowledge of any of these languages is an asset when applying for employment in Gällivare Municipality.
