Business Description

Hakkasskolan in the village of Hakkas is a spacious primary school in the countryside of Gällivare municipality. It includes preschool class, after-school care, and grades 1-9. The school has about 70 students from Hakkas and the surrounding villages, with some new arrivals. The school has close access to a swimming pool and large natural areas that are used in all students' activities.

Hakkasskolan is a small school where we develop close relationships and dare to succeed and fail together. Our vision is “For a future where everything is possible!”. We constantly develop teaching and our learning environments to give students the best possible conditions for learning.

Hakkasskolan has been granted an ERASMUS+ accreditation for 2021-2027. This means continuous collaborative projects with other schools around Europe, with opportunities for travel within the job for all participating educators. The goals of the ERASMUS+ work are to collaborate with other schools in Europe that have similar challenges to ours, to strengthen students' motivation to learn multiple languages, further develop distance education, and give students and teachers the opportunity to see their own hometown from new perspectives.

Job Responsibilities

The position is permanent at 100%. You will be employed as a teacher, permanently if you are certified, otherwise temporarily per term according to the Education Act. You will be responsible for teaching social studies in grades 5-9. You will be part of a work team and responsible for all students' learning together with other educators in the team. We distribute tasks across all grades based on certification and adapt the distribution of teaching according to your qualifications. There is an opportunity to combine with other subjects and to adjust the working hours.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a teaching degree with qualifications in social studies for grades 5-9. A background check for work in schools is required. We seek someone who has a present and attentive approach to students' different needs, is a clear leader, and has good collaboration skills. You are independent, responsible, and have an easy time taking your own initiatives. We develop our work through pedagogical conversations and collegial learning and see it as a strength to be able to help each other to dare to be curious about new ways of working. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.

Within the framework of the national minority language law, Gällivare municipality is the administrative municipality for Sami, Meänkieli, and Finnish. Knowledge of any of these languages is an advantage when applying for employment in Gällivare municipality.
