We are currently looking for a specialist/consultant to join our team at the Eye Clinic in Östersund.

The Eye Clinic in Östersund is located in the heart of the country and as the only eye clinic in the region, we are responsible for both the residents and an increasing number of tourists, both in summer and winter. We handle a wide range of different diagnoses while being subspecialized. We provide eye care in areas such as diabetes, medical retina, glaucoma and glaucoma surgery, pediatrics, plastic surgery, and cataract surgery. Additionally, we have on-call and backup services as well as supervision/training of resident doctors and medical students. We have modern technical equipment and a broad surgical practice. We strive to think innovatively and work towards a climate where we continuously develop and shape the operations together. There are also great opportunities for research, and we have a well-functioning research and development unit within the region.

Currently, we have 7 specialist doctors and 7 resident doctors. In addition, we have 3 orthoptists, 1 optician, 14 nurses, 6 nursing assistants, and 12 medical secretaries. We have 3 unit managers who share the leadership role alongside clinical work, and we strive for openness and collaboration where employees are welcomed to be involved in the development of the operations. At the clinic, we have a family-like atmosphere and good cooperation between professional groups.

The Eye Clinic is part of Östersund Hospital, which is centrally located in a city where life never stands still. Here you will find a wide range of restaurants and shops, all within walking distance. Adjacent to the city, Storsjö spreads out with its beautiful waterfront promenades, marinas, green parks, and cozy cafes. In winter, the ski stadium attracts with 90 km of prepared trails, a place that draws international visitors. For those seeking more adventure – summer or winter – the fantastic Swedish mountain world is just around the corner.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Primarily outpatient work as an eye specialist/consultant. On-call and standby duties are included. We welcome candidates with an interest in either glaucoma, medical retina, or diabetes, but this is not a requirement.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for you who are a specialist doctor/consultant in ophthalmology. We value personal qualities such as the ability to build good relationships with colleagues and patients. Independent research and research supervision are meritorious, as is previous work experience in the field. Proficiency in Swedish equivalent to C1 according to the European scale.

• Certificate of medical degree from the institution(s) where the doctor completed their basic education. This applies to doctors educated in other EU countries and outside the EU.
• License certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare
• Specialist competence certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare
• If applicable, a certificate of academic degree, such as Doctor of Medicine or Docent, along with the date of disputation and title of the dissertation.
• Any additional documented qualifications regarding clinical knowledge/experience, clinical development work, leadership experience, and anything else the applicant wishes to highlight as relevant for the position applied for.
