We are looking for a planning architect with coordination responsibility.

Ånge Municipality is a small municipality in Västernorrland County, located between Sundsvall and Östersund. The municipality has extensive access to renewable energy, railroads in all directions, one of Sweden's largest railway yards, and a strong and diverse business community. These are the reasons why several large industrial establishments are planned in the municipality over the next 5-10 years. The establishments will occur in several locations across different industries, but with the green transition as a common starting point. The new establishments are expected to create 1,000 - 1,500 new jobs in the municipality. The political leadership has therefore set the goal of increasing the population from the current 9,100 people to 11,000 people. This means that the entire community needs to develop to achieve this goal.

The initiated community development involves several extensive initiatives to build a new Ånge. The municipality's administration is currently working to enable new housing, improved communications, expanded trade, new industrial land, increased attractiveness, and more. An important part of this work is to revise detailed plans and develop new detailed plans. We are also currently working on developing planning programs for our urban areas. Ånge Municipality currently has only one planning architect, who is senior and works part-time. The municipality collaborates with Sundsvall Municipality on planning issues, so there are great opportunities for collegial exchange with the planning office in Sundsvall. On the building and environmental side, Ånge Municipality shares its administration and board with Bräcke Municipality. The role of planning architect is organizationally located in the Community Building Department, which is also responsible for establishments, business development, and technical operations such as streets, parks, water, sewage, and waste management. We are a small positive team that works well together.

Job Responsibilities

In the role of planning architect with us, you will work as a coordinator for the municipality's work with detailed plans. You will handle detailed planning processes in close collaboration with the municipality's other administrations, our partner municipalities, developers, and other stakeholders. The work involves independently producing planning documents, leading and coordinating consultants' work with planning documents, investigations, and being responsible for timelines and budgets. The position also involves dialogue with municipal residents, businesses, colleagues, and elected officials. You are expected to prepare and present planning matters in our political organization. Being able to meet, collaborate, and present your work to various stakeholders is part of the daily routine. As a person, you take your own initiatives and often come up with new approaches to work-related issues. You are responsible for driving your work forward towards set goals, and with support, prioritize your work effectively. You adapt to changing circumstances and see opportunities in such situations.

Qualifications

• We are looking for someone with a relevant university degree in physical planning, landscape architecture, urban planning, or education/competence that we assess as equivalent.
• You need to be well-versed in applicable legislation and its application.
• You have experience and knowledge in producing drawings and maps using tools like AutoCAD or equivalent. You have basic knowledge in visualization and modeling.
• We prefer that you have experience in municipal operations and work in a politically governed organization.
• You need to be able to work both independently and collaboratively with people from a wide range of professions, interests, and backgrounds.
• We are looking for someone with several years of experience in working with detailed plans and planning processes.

As a person, you are engaged, self-driven, and responsible. Communication is an important part, and you should find it easy to communicate, reason, and argue both verbally and in writing. You are unpretentious and have an easy time collaborating with both colleagues and external parties. You are curious to learn new things and actively seek new knowledge and good examples. Persistence is an important quality as planning processes extend over a longer period.
