The Role of Traffic Director

As Traffic Director in Region Jönköping, you will have the opportunity to influence some of the most significant societal issues and contribute to our vision of “A good life in an attractive region” for our residents. The mission of the County Traffic is to operate and develop public transport within Jönköping County and adjacent areas. We work to increase public transport usage to contribute to a more sustainable society and regional development.

You will have overall responsibility for leading, driving, and developing the work within Jönköping County Traffic. As part of the management team of Region Jönköping, you will be involved in the work with region-wide strategic management issues. The role involves working at the interface between politics and operations. Your work will be in close collaboration with other functions within the regional development mission and will be based on the goals and assignments decided politically.

You lead your own operations, and you also lead through contracted traffic agreements and in collaboration with other regions' public transport authorities. A significant part of the assignment is to maintain close cooperation and dialogue with municipalities, authorities, and in national networks and forums. In the role of Traffic Director, you represent Jönköping County Traffic in contact with residents and the media. You will be the immediate supervisor for the Traffic Manager, Service Travel Manager, Marketing and Communications Manager, Finance Manager, and Operations Strategist.

The position is a permanent employment with a start date according to agreement.

Your Profile

For the position of Traffic Director, we are looking for someone who has the ability to build good relationships, create trust, and who is an experienced manager. We believe you have experience leading a socially important organization at a strategic level and are therefore used to leading through other managers. You have a strong interest and understanding of societal, infrastructure, and public transport issues.

We are looking for someone with a strong commitment to contributing to the development of the organization and its employees. You have excellent communication skills and create conditions for good collaboration both internally and externally. You stand firm and stable in your leadership role, have your heart in the right place, and challenge when needed. We do not expect you to solve the assignment on your own. Rather, in this role, you lead through others, show direction, and together you chart the course.

If you have experience in a role that has given you an understanding of how the interaction between politics and administration works, it is an advantage. Your educational background includes an academic degree or another qualification relevant to the position. You have a very good ability to communicate in Swedish and can use English when needed.
