Today's and Tomorrow's Electricity Prices: An Overview

Today, on April 27, 2024, electricity prices show an interesting dynamic throughout the day, ranging from as low as 42 cents per kWh in the afternoon to as high as 1.22 SEK per kWh during the evening hours. Tomorrow, on April 28, promises even lower prices with a minimum cost of only 11 cents per kWh at midday, providing a perfect opportunity for energy-conscious consumers to plan their energy-intensive activities.

Optimal Times for Household Chores

During today's cheapest hour, from 3:00 PM to 3:59 PM, it costs only 16 cents to run a dishwasher cycle and 43 cents for a shower. Compared to the evening's highest prices from 7:00 PM to 7:59 PM, where the same dishwasher costs 1.88 SEK and a shower goes up to 7.53 SEK, the afternoon appears as an economically advantageous time to perform household chores.

Electric Car Charging and Computer Gaming

Charging an electric car during the cheapest hour today costs only 6.45 SEK, while the price shoots up to 75.35 SEK during the most expensive hour. Similarly, playing games on the computer costs 5 cents and 62 cents, respectively. These price differences emphasize the importance of time-optimizing energy consumption to take advantage of lower electricity prices.

Tomorrow: A Day for Energy-Intensive Activities

With a general decrease in electricity prices tomorrow, where the most expensive hour (from 9:00 PM to 9:59 PM) only reaches 74 cents per kWh, it is an ideal day for activities such as charging electric cars or performing other energy-intensive tasks. Particularly noteworthy is the price from 3:00 PM to 3:59 PM, which is down to an amazing 11 cents per kWh.

Curiosity: Annual Costs at Lowest Price Levels

An interesting calculation shows that if we had the lowest electricity price all year round, it would cost 1,937 SEK to heat a medium-sized house of 160 sqm. This insight can be helpful for households considering investing in energy-efficient solutions to reduce their annual energy costs.

Summary

With today's fluctuating electricity prices and tomorrow's generally lower prices, there are great opportunities to plan and reduce energy costs. Keeping an eye on hourly prices can really pay off, especially for larger households or those with high energy consumption.
