Today's and Tomorrow's Electricity Prices: An Overview

In today's dynamic energy market, we see a varying trend in electricity prices throughout the day. To help you plan your energy consumption habits, here is a detailed look at the movements of electricity prices.

Today's Electricity Prices

Today, on April 25, 2024, we have observed an interesting fluctuation in electricity prices. They started at 97 cents per kWh at midnight and gradually decreased to their lowest point at 78 cents between 2:00 PM and 2:59 PM. Subsequently, prices rose again, reaching a peak of 152 cents during the early morning hours and a second peak of 137 cents at 8:00 PM.

Expected Electricity Prices Tomorrow

For tomorrow, April 26, a somewhat more stable price outlook is predicted. Prices will start at 92 cents at midnight and drop to the day's lowest at 76 cents between 2:00 PM and 2:59 PM. The evening hours once again show an increase, with a peak of 125 cents around 8:00 PM.

Economic Tips for the Household

Understanding when electricity prices are at their lowest during the day can be economically advantageous. For example, during the cheapest hour today, it only costs 3.04 SEK to take a shower and 1.14 SEK to run a dishwasher cycle. Compare this to the most expensive hours, where the same shower and dishwasher cycle cost 9.50 SEK and 2.37 SEK, respectively.

Electric Vehicle Charging and Computer Gaming

For electric vehicle owners, the timing of charging can be critical. Charging the car during the cheapest hour today costs only 45.66 SEK, while during the most expensive hour, it costs a whopping 95.08 SEK. Even an hour of computer gaming can vary in cost from 0.38 SEK to 0.79 SEK depending on the time.

Long-Term Savings

Heating a typical 160 sqm house costs 13,699 SEK annually if you only utilize the cheapest hours every day. However, if you were to use the most expensive hours, the same heating would cost 28,524 SEK. This illustrates the importance of strategically planning your energy usage.

Tips to Reduce Your Electricity Bill

To maximize savings, consider scheduling energy-intensive activities such as laundry, dishes, and heating during the cheapest hours. Also, consider investing in smart home systems that automatically adjust energy consumption based on real-time prices.
