Your team
The four ICT groups in the Technical Division at MAX IV deliver solutions to the whole MAX IV organisation in the areas of electronics, software, infrastructure, detectors and scientific data.

This is a dynamic and highly challenging environment that requires close collaboration with the staff to understand the needs and be effective in forming solutions. We are around 50 people in total who work in the 4 groups in a well organised and agile way. We hold values of lean management, knowledge spread, user autonomy, continuous improvement and flexibility as guiding principles for our work.

The smooth functioning of the MAX IV synchrotron facility relies strongly on the efficient, reliable and flexible operation of its IT infrastructure. The site hosts a vast variety of computer equipment, from the control of scientific instruments to HPC and multi petabyte storage to office computing and printers.

MAX IV is looking for a positive and service minded person to join our IT Infrastructure group taking on the challenges of IT security management.
The successful candidate is expected to actively contribute to development and design of MAX IV IT systems to incorporate appropriate security measures at all levels.

Your main work tasks will be 

- Proactive identification, investigation and remediation of IT security risks and vulnerabilities.
- Perform security monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all areas of vulnerability.
- Working together with other groups towards strengthening of IT security at MAX IV.
- Interface with user community to understand their concerns and implement approved procedures to accommodate the identified needs.
- Documenting any security breaches and assessing their damage.
- Be a driving person in the creation of policy and best practice regarding IT security.

To be successful in this role you need to have the following qualifications

- At least 5 years IT Infrastructure experience with focus on Security.
- In-depth understanding of CVEs, including their identification, analysis, and mitigation including vulnerability and threat management.
- Proficiency in various security protocols such as SSL/TLS, IPSec, and VPN technologies.
- Thorough experience with Linux, Windows operating systems regarding security configuration.
- Good understanding of network protocols, firewall technologies, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and network monitoring tools with focus on security.
- Thorough experience with Application lifecycle management regarding security monitoring and updates.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Fluent in English, both spoken and in writing.

The following are seen as merits

- Existing security certifications (like CISSP).
- Familiarity with standards such as ISO 27001, NIST CSF and GDPR.
- Hands-on experience in developing, executing, and managing incident response plans and procedures.
- Commitment to staying current with emerging security trends, new technologies, and involvement in cybersecurity forums.
- Experience with Juniper networking equipment.
- Proficiency with advanced threat protection tools (like Snort, Suricata, Zeek, Yara).
- Experience with a VMware environment.
- Experience with a Kubernetes environment.
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
- Experience with software development.
- Experience with application security and DevSecOps.

MAX IV is a Swedish national large-scale research infrastructure hosted by Lund University. It provides scientists from Sweden and abroad, with intense x-rays and state-of-the-art instrumentation for research in areas such as engineering, physics, structural biology, chemistry and nanotechnology. Its 16 beamlines receive up to 2 000 scientists annually, conducting ground-breaking experiments in materials and life sciences using the brilliant X-rays.
