Pain Rehabilitation Unit (VE) is one of the largest pain rehabilitation units in Sweden. We offer interdisciplinary and internationally accredited pain assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation for individuals with activity limitations due to chronic pain. Our rehabilitation puts the patient at the center and involves them actively in their care.

The various professional groups in our team possess specialist competencies in their respective fields regarding assessment, treatment, and knowledge of chronic pain and its consequences. We are constantly working to develop our operations. The unit is represented in a local working group for chronic pain in Skåne and functions as a university healthcare unit with the mission to engage in teaching, education, and development, as well as supporting research in the field of chronic pain.

Several of our employees are part of various research groups and conduct their own research. Research experience or interest is considered an asset. The unit also includes a pediatric and adolescent pain clinic, and the National Quality Register for Pain Rehabilitation (NRS) is integrated into our operations.

We have a total of approximately 70 employees at the unit, of whom 16 are physiotherapists.

RESPONSIBILITIES

We are now looking for a physiotherapist for our physiotherapy clinic within VE Pain Rehabilitation!

You will work with the assessment and treatment of patients with chronic pain conditions in various team constellations within our assessment activities and as part of our physiotherapy program.

During assessments, you, as a physiotherapist, will perform a thorough examination and functional analysis, mapping the patient's abilities and limitations in physical activities. The team summarizes the joint assessment according to the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) and creates a rehabilitation plan together with the patient.

Rehabilitation at the unit takes place individually and in groups. The position is primarily located in assessment and treatment work, mainly involving individual patient contacts, either alone or in close collaboration with a psychologist. Treatment methods are based on knowledge of pain physiology, orthopedic medicine, sensorimotor function, and behavioral medicine. All staff have further training in motivational interviewing, behavioral analysis, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Physiotherapy rehabilitation consists mainly of patient education, training of sensorimotor function, body awareness, and coping strategies to help patients increase their physical activity in daily life and improve their quality of life. Interventions may also include orthopedic medical measures, acupuncture, and TENS. Physiotherapists also work in pain management programs and group rehabilitation, collaborating in teams with psychologists, occupational therapists, social workers, and physicians. Patient rehabilitation is evaluated according to quality programs, which leads to continuous improvement work at the unit.

You will join a group of experienced physiotherapists with extensive clinical experience in sensorimotor analysis and training adapted to patients with pain and functional impairment, as well as specialist competence in orthopedics and pain/pain rehabilitation. As part of the group's development, there is a regular Evidence Club where evidence in the form of scientific literature and clinical experiences is discussed to strengthen evidence-based medicine.

QUALIFICATIONS

We welcome you if you are a licensed physiotherapist with the eligibility to work in Swedish healthcare. Proficiency in Swedish at level C1 or higher according to the Council of Europe's scale is a requirement. Additionally, you have further training in techniques to perform a thorough pain assessment and functional analysis, as well as experience in rehabilitating this patient group.

We consider the following as merit:

• Further training in the assessment and treatment of impairments in neuromusculoskeletal functions, e.g., OMT Step 1 and 2 or OMI Basic and Advanced.
• Further training in techniques to perform a thorough orthopedic medical assessment, as well as pain and functional analysis, and experience in rehabilitating this patient group.
• Courses in pain physiology and chronic pain.
• Work in primary care or specialized care within the musculoskeletal field or another suitable area.
• Experience working with sensorimotor training and body awareness training.
• Experience working with a behavioral medicine approach, e.g., CBT, ACT, and/or motivational approaches such as MI.
• Specialist competence in pain and pain rehabilitation or orthopedics/OMT.
• Experience in quality work or research within evidence-based care.
