We at Wallenius Marine are now looking for a Chief Officer for the vessel Turandot. Turandot is a classic Ro-Ro vessel that trades in various parts of the world and has a great team on board. Turandot operates on charter for the Japanese company Seven Seals.

About the position

The role of Chief Officer on board Turandot is developmental, varied, and fast-paced. You will work closely with the other deck officers and be responsible for ensuring that safety, efficiency, and quality are pursued on board. As the second-in-command after the Master, you will be crucial for the vessel as a whole and its daily operations.

Examples of duties in the role:

• Responsible for the deck crew and daily work on board.
• Plan and supervise loading, discharging, and cargo securing.
• Responsible for the vessel's safety, life-saving, and fire-fighting equipment.
• Stand navigational watch and assist the Master.
• Ensure that regulations, procedures, and safety requirements are followed.

On board Turandot, both Filipino and Swedish crews work together. As we have a mixed crew, English is spoken on board.

Conditions

• The position is a permanent employment, starting with a standard probationary period.
• Contract length: approx. 8 weeks (often becomes longer).
• Start date by agreement. The position may be filled before the application deadline.

Requirements

Requirements for the position are:

• Qualification as Chief Officer.
• Valid certificates and documents for the position in accordance with STCW Manila.
• Good knowledge of English – ability to express yourself in both speech and writing.

Meritorious and personal qualities

It is meritorious if you:

• Have previous experience from similar Ro-Ro vessels.
• Have work experience in the role of Chief Officer from before.
