About the Swedish Prison and Probation Service
The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce reoffending – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will become safer and more secure for everyone. We are the agency responsible for prisons, probation services, remand prisons, and client transport.
Kronoberg Remand Prison is a security remand prison located on Kungsholmen in central Stockholm, with easy access to good public transport. The operations include a security department, intake and arrest, isolation-breaking activities, as well as departments for both communal living and restricted conditions.
Due to its location adjacent to police operations, the prison is part of a close collaboration within the justice system. Here, employees and managers work together to create a safe, legally secure, and well-functioning operation for both clients and colleagues.
As an employee, you will be part of an important societal mission in an operation that offers a stable and routine-based work environment, although needs and conditions may vary during the workday. The Swedish Prison and Probation Service offers good development opportunities within the agency if you wish to specialize or further your career.
Job Description
As a Facility and Service Technician at Kronoberg Remand Prison, you will work both practically and administratively with facility operations and issues related to physical and technical security. You are responsible for handling all types of fault reports regarding facility operations in accordance with the boundary list towards the property owner.
In this role, you will work with troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of the prison's premises to ensure that the operation maintains its function. You perform simpler maintenance tasks such as repairs, painting, lock repairs, sewage management, and visitor management. You collaborate closely with the property owner, subcontractors, and other external parties to develop and improve the function and operation of the facility. Furthermore, you will be responsible for planning and creating specifications to enable ordering of facility technical systems related to the prison's premises. The role also includes administrative tasks such as documentation, follow-up, and handling of orders and invoices. You report regularly to your nearest manager and the property owner.
As the work will be carried out throughout the prison's operations, you will be situated in a security-sensitive environment. This places high demands on your security awareness.
Qualifications
Your personal qualities are important to us. As a person, you possess good problem-solving skills, are flexible, and can handle a high work pace with many balls in the air at the same time. You have good teamwork skills and thrive working in a team (but also independently). You have a service-oriented approach and can adapt your communication based on the person and situation. The role requires a high level of security awareness as well as working in a stable, calm, and responsible manner.
To thrive and succeed in your assignment, it is important that you share the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's fundamental values regarding a human view of people, respect for the individual, and the belief that humans are capable of development. You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. Furthermore, you are expected to contribute with your approach to ensuring that everyone is treated equally. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
We are looking for someone who has:
- Post-secondary education/vocational training with a focus on facility technician, service technician, property manager, or alternative education deemed relevant by the employer
