Pharmacy Services, Sahlgrenska University Hospital (SU), is now seeking a Ward Pharmacist with placement in somatic inpatient care at Sahlgrenska Hospital.

About Us

Pharmacy Services is a unit within the Medicines Department at Sahlgrenska University Hospital (SU). Within Pharmacy Services, dispensing pharmacists and pharmacists work as ward pharmacists and clinical pharmacists at care units distributed across Sahlgrenska University Hospital. We currently have approximately 75 employees, organized under three unit managers.

The Medicines Department also includes the units Clinical Pharmacology, Clinical Pharmacology Lab (CBAR), Medicine Service, Inpatient Dosing, and Extempore Manufacturing. Together, we create the right medicine, the right support, and the right quality – for care where medicines are used safely, effectively, and with the highest possible benefit for the patient. The department has both regional and hospital-specific assignments.

Here, you will work closely with patients and medicines in an operation where collaboration with healthcare professions is crucial. You will have your own ward but will simultaneously become part of an engaged pharmacy team that shares experiences and competence and together drives safe and effective medicine use.

Our goal is to offer stimulating and developing work where you, as a ward pharmacist, work as part of the team in the healthcare operation where you are placed. You will have the opportunity to contribute your pharmaceutical competence in both practical tasks and as knowledge support.

As a new employee in Pharmacy Services, you will be introduced by experienced colleagues to learn different parts of the work and the healthcare operation where you will be placed. Pharmacy Services continuously works to offer competence development based on the unit's needs and the employees' personal goals.

Generally, work in Pharmacy Services may involve weekend shifts and work on other wards or clinics within Sahlgrenska University Hospital where Pharmacy Services is located.

Job Responsibilities

The main responsibilities include performing practical tasks such as preparing medicines, both oral and parenteral, ordering and managing medicine rooms, as well as acting as direct knowledge support for nurses and doctors. Conducting quality work for safe medicine handling is a continuous responsibility for Pharmacy Services.

As a ward pharmacist, you support other healthcare staff in quality work at the care unit, including:

• Preparation of oral and parenteral medicine doses.
• Ordering medicines and managing medicine rooms.
• Introducing new nurses to medicine handling and preparation.
• Competence support regarding medicines and medicine handling.
• Quality work for safe medicine handling.

About You

We are looking for you who are a licensed dispensing pharmacist or pharmacist, with at least two years of professional experience. As a person, it is important that you are flexible and have a good ability to prioritize and plan your work based on the needs of the healthcare operation. You need to be good at collaborating, building new contacts and good relationships, both within and outside your own professional field. You should be able to work independently and take initiative, prioritize quality, and at the same time be solution-oriented and responsive to the needs and conditions of the care unit. You have good knowledge of Swedish and a good ability to express yourself in speech and writing. In the recruitment process, we will place great emphasis on personal suitability.

Employment starts by agreement. Interviews are planned to start in weeks 33-34.
