Do you want a job where you make a difference every day? The Kitchen Unit in the Enskede-Årsta-Vantör District Administration is now looking for a cook with diet competence who wants to contribute to good, nutritious, and sustainable food for the elderly.

Welcome to us

The Kitchen Unit has been run in-house by the district administration since March 1st. We prepare approximately 1,600 meals per day for the elderly care in Enskede-Årsta-Vantör. The food is delivered to our care and nursing homes as well as meal boxes to home care customers. We also have a restaurant operation where private individuals can buy lunch or meal boxes. The unit has 11 employees, two group leaders, and is managed by a unit manager.

Your role

As a cook with us, you have an important role in planning, preparing, and quality-assuring meals for the elderly. You work with a focus on good, nutritious, and adapted food based on individual needs.

Your tasks include cooking from scratch, handling special diets and consistency-adapted meals, and participating in menu planning. You work in accordance with current guidelines for food hygiene, self-control, and food safety.

The role also includes ordering goods, handling deliveries, and contributing to keeping the kitchen well-structured and of high quality in daily work. You collaborate closely with your colleagues and contribute to a good work climate.

Your competence and experience

For the role, you need:

  • Upper secondary education within restaurant and food with a focus on cooking, vocational training as a cook, or other education that the employer deems equivalent
  • Good ability to communicate in Swedish, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to work independently and in a team

It is meritorious if you have:

  • Experience working in a large kitchen or public operations
  • Experience working with special diets and adapted meals

You have knowledge of diet, nutrition, and special diets, as well as understanding of food hygiene. As a person, you are responsible, structured, and have good collaborative skills. You thrive working at a high pace and have a professional approach to your work.

Other

Working hours are scheduled on weekdays and weekends according to a rolling 2-week schedule where you work 37 hours per week.

The Kitchen Unit is located at Åstorpsringen 28 in Enskededalen.

Selection and interviews may take place on an ongoing basis.

Enskede Årsta Vantör is one of 11 district administrations in Stockholm City. As part of Stockholm City, the administration provides preschool and leisure, care for the elderly and disabled, social services, preventive and security work, urban development, and park maintenance to our 105,000 residents in the district. We face exciting challenges as the Enskede Årsta Vantör district grows and entirely new neighborhoods are built. Approximately 18,000 new apartments are planned by the year 2030.

To work with the elderly and people with disabilities in their homes for Stockholm City, you must show an extract from the criminal record register. The extract must not be older than 6 months from the date of issue.
