Do you want to lead and develop our green environments and contribute to an attractive, safe, and sustainable municipality year-round? We are now looking for an engaged and development-oriented unit manager for Park Operations within Östersund Municipality. We offer a unique opportunity to lead and develop socially vital operations in the heart of Jämtland.
Your Role
As the Unit Manager for Park Operations, you are responsible for leading, developing, and monitoring the operations that maintain the municipality's parks, green spaces, playgrounds, and green areas. During the winter half-year, we are also responsible for the operation and winter road maintenance of pedestrian and cycle paths as well as ice rinks.
You lead a team of approximately 20 employees, including support functions, and are responsible for operations, personnel, working environment, and budget. Through close and trust-based leadership, you create conditions for engagement, collaboration, and good results while ensuring efficient and high-quality operations.
The role combines operational presence with strategic development work. You are expected to be visible in the operations, lead and monitor daily work, and drive long-term improvements within operations, working methods, and resource usage. The assignment also includes collaborating with other internal and external actors.
You report to the Sector Manager and are part of the Sector Street & Parks management group. There, you actively contribute to the overall development of both the operations and the municipality. The unit is part of Sector Street & Park, where approximately 100 employees work together to create safe, accessible, and well-maintained public environments.
Your placement is at the office of the Technical Administration, but a natural part of the assignment is to be present out in the field. The entire municipality is your work area.
Your Profile
You have a relevant university degree or other education combined with experience that the employer considers equivalent. As a leader, you are secure, trust-based, and engaged, with experience in leading and developing people, teams, and operations. You are motivated by creating engagement, collaboration, and results together with others.
Experience from park operations, ground maintenance, operations, technical operations, or similar areas is meritorious but not a requirement. We value that you understand how practical work, planning, and resource management interact to create well-functioning and sustainable outdoor environments. You also have good digital competence and use digital tools as a natural support for planning, follow-up, communication, and operational development.
Experience from municipal operations or other politically governed organizations is meritorious. We would like you to have an understanding of the interplay between politics, operations, and citizen benefit, as well as the ability to translate goals and decisions into practical action.
A B driver's license and good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, are required for the role.
What We Offer
As a manager in Östersund Municipality, you will have a central role in leading and developing operations, creating results, and making a real difference in people's daily lives. You will become part of an organization characterized by engagement, collaboration, and sustainable leadership, where you have good opportunities for competence development, managerial support, and attractive employment conditions.
For you who want to develop both people and operations, this is an opportunity to take the next step in your leadership career and contribute to the ambition of creating a better Östersund every day.
We offer benefits such as paid vacation from the first year of employment, vacation exchange, wellness allowance, or wellness hour. Through our benefits portal, you will have access to independent pension advice and a range of discounts and offers. You can read more about our benefits on our website.
The position is permanent, full-time, with annual working hours, and start date as agreed. Placement is at the Technical Administration, Hyggesvägen 15 in Östersund, with the possibility of hybrid work.
