About the Operations and Services Department

At the Operations and Services Department, we create a secure, sustainable, and well-functioning everyday life for residents, operations, and visitors in Karlskrona Municipality. Here, dedicated employees work in areas ranging from facility maintenance, service, and catering to IT, water and wastewater, port operations, and customer service.

We are a workplace characterized by collaboration, responsibility, and pride. Here, service, quality, and development meet – and regardless of whether you work with meal services, technology, or operational support, you are an important part of the municipality's pulse.

As a manager here, you will have a varied and meaningful daily life close to the operations, where your leadership and ideas make a real difference.

About the Job

As the Head of Catering (Cost Chef), you have overall responsibility for the meal operations within one of six geographical areas in Karlskrona Municipality. The role includes responsibility for meal production for preschools, schools, upper secondary schools, and elderly care.

The Catering Department consists of 56 kitchens and approximately 200 skilled and engaged employees. You lead the operations with a focus on quality, development, sustainability, and a good working environment, ensuring that the meals maintain high quality and contribute to the municipality's overall goals.

You are part of the Catering Department's management group and work closely with five other Head of Catering managers. Together, you drive development and improvement work in a close, non-hierarchical, and collegial collaboration.

  • Ensuring quality, efficiency, and equal meal services
  • Driving improvement and development work with a focus on quality and sustainability
  • Working systematically with follow-up, analysis, and continuous improvements
  • Collaborating with other managers, operations, and partners
  • Actively contributing to the Catering Department's joint development through overarching areas of responsibility, such as preparedness, procurement, menu planning, or training initiatives

About You

As a leader, you are secure, clear, and engaged, and have extensive experience working in kitchens/large-scale catering. You thrive in a managerial role and have the ability to lead both people and operations towards common goals. You work in a structured manner, are close to the operations, and easily build trust and good relationships. You see change as a natural part of the development process and have the ability to drive improvements together with your employees. You are communicative, non-hierarchical, and actively contribute to a good collaborative climate and a good working environment.

Requirements

  • Academic education in a relevant field, or other education/experience that the employer deems equivalent
  • Experience in managerial or leading positions in kitchens/large-scale catering
  • Experience with personnel, working environment, and budget responsibility
