As a school doctor in the municipalities of Leksand and Gagnef, you will become an important part of the student health services. Here, you work closely with other school professionals, focusing on creating conditions for students to feel good, develop, and achieve their goals.

Your responsibilities

You meet with students from preschool class to upper secondary school for assessment and decision-making, including regarding the need for referral for investigation of medical and psychiatric conditions, as well as developmental deviations/function variations. You also participate in student cases together with other collaborating actors such as Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (BUP), Habilitation Services (HAB), Social Services, or Primary Health Care Centers. The assignment is carried out in close collaboration with our other employees within each municipality's student health team.

Main responsibilities:

  • Conduct medical assessments in individual student cases
  • Provide consultative support to school nurses, psychologists, counselors, and special education teachers
  • Participate in student health teams (SHT) as needed
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary investigations prior to decisions on special support or placement in adapted school forms
  • Issue medical statements (e.g., prior to placement in adapted schools according to Chapter 7, Section 5 of the Education Act)
  • Participate in establishing and developing routines within the Student Health Services (EMI)
  • Participate in quality work as well as follow-up and development of the operations
  • Contribute medical expertise to work on mental health, school attendance, and lifestyle habits
  • Be responsible for medical guidelines together with the medically responsible school nurse and operations manager

Work methods:

  • The work is performed independently but in close collaboration with student health professionals
  • Participation takes place at scheduled clinics, SHT meetings, and as needed within the organization.

This is a part-time position where the work is divided between the municipalities of Leksand and Gagnef, with 25% in Leksand and 15% in Gagnef. Working hours are planned in dialogue based on the needs of the operations.

Your profile

  • You are a licensed physician with specialist training in general practice, pediatrics, or child and adolescent psychiatry.
  • An additional specialization in school health care is meritorious.
  • You have in-depth medical knowledge in areas such as growth, development, endocrinology, mental health, specific school difficulties, long-term illnesses and disabilities in school, vaccinations and infection control, and health promotion work.
  • Basic computer skills are required, as well as a B-driver's license and access to your own car, as the work is located at several schools in the two municipalities.

Your abilities, skills, and attitude are highly valued, as you need to be able to handle children with different needs. It is important that you are pedagogical, meticulous, empathetic, trustworthy, have good collaboration skills, and always prioritize our students' best interests - in everything you do.

About the workplace

The position is located in Leksand Municipality and is part of the Student Health Services (EMI), together with the principal, school nurse, school psychologist, counselor, and special education teacher. Your direct manager is the Head of Student Health.
